can someone please simply explain the difference between divergent and parallel evolution??

parallel evolution refers to the independent development of similar phenotypes after divergence while divergent evoloution refers to the continued change after divergence

so in divergent they keep on becoming more different while in parallel they stay relatively simular?????

VCAA has said in one of the teacher materials that they give out that students don't need to know about parallel evolution. Now, having said that, it was mentioned as an option in a VCAA multiple choice question, so make of that what you want. I don't think it's worth stressing over, but it is as Bazza said. ^ What you said too :)
