Would you use a mobile ATAR estimator/calculator?

Hi everyone!
I'm considering either updating the ATAR Calculator website so it's mobile-friendly, or creating a separate mobile-friendly website (or perhaps some sort of app). Before I do so, I'd like to know if anyone would actually use it. Would you use an ATAR calculator on your phone?

I seem to always have a lack of free time (especially since I'm in my final year at uni right now), but if I do get some free time, I'll try to look into doing this if there's enough demand.

Thanks!

Hi,
just like to say what a great site atar calc is. i have spent ages working out all the combinations i could get haha

unfortunately i don't think there is a need for a mobile atar calc. its not like you would ever urgently need to use it.

but i guess if there does appear to be enough interest, go for it !

There's already an ATAR Calculator in the Apple Appstore based off the one on http://www.atarcalc.com

It's a lot more convenient entering and viewing your scores but you need to be connected to the internet for it to work.

Maybe create one that doesn't rely on the net?

I remember this year during one of our spares the whole table were on their phones on atarcalc and were getting so pissed off that it didn't update correctly when you enter the study scores in. It's a absouletly great website/tool (i'm sure you've heard it thousands of times by now). I would use a mobile version, but probably not in future since I am nearly done, but I do think people would like it. I would suggest keeping/updating the original whil making a scaled down mobile version. Again great work :)

A mobile-friendly site wouldn't hurt.

Terrific work with the website btw. It's rare that a single web page can provide so much hope and despair at the same time!

Yeah someone asked me if it was okay to have an app that runs off the site, so I guess it's his app :P
I don't have an iPhone so couldn't test it out myself.

LOL, yeah, the current site probably doesn't work very well on mobiles. When I made it, mobile web browsing wasn't as popular as it is now. That and a lot of the code is really messy so I might end up rewriting the whole thing one day :P

Yeah, I'm really surprised! I overheard some kids on the train talking about it the other day :O

Yeah, I'm trying to keep the data up-to-date as long as VTAC don't complain about me using their data. They recently complained that I was using the term "ATAR" without permission so I needed to add a notice in the footer.

Yeah, I have no experience with making mobile sites so I'll have to look into the best way to do it :P

I wouldn't use it... I mean, it'd be cool and I'd probably download it but seriously when would I have a need for it? From my experience with ATAR calc, I have used it by trying out a whole lot of different combinations of scores, working out my best score and stuff and spending 20-30 mins on there playing around with it and then not going back for a couple of months until it tickles my fancy again. That's not the sort of use that I have for aps, they're generally things that I need to use for a couple of minutes a couple of times a week to do something...

Also, is there really a very big market for an atarcalc ap? You're limited to Year 12 students with smartphones who are interested in doing well and academically minded. That narrows it down a lot in my opinion.

Making it mobile friendly would definitely be awesome! My friends and I usually find ourselves on our phones using atar calc during class and yeah, it may be quite difficult to use sometimes. :P

Yeah, I would definitely use it.
Also, it would increase your knowledge on website making/editing and such! So I suppose it's a win/win?

Either way, the site is awesome. Thank you very much :D
