o-week isn't even essential for first year students, so definitely not essential for second year haha. At least I never went to them.

But it is soooo much fun!!!  And kind of a last hurrah before you get absolutely hammered for 14+ weeks.

Wouldnt it be a last hurrah when you get hammered before you get screwed?

0-week is best in the first two days where there is plenty promotional products (Officeworks textbooks ect)

EDIT: Oh and 'screwed' is very much a relative term *cough mavis/stone cough*

Yeah...just a reminder that your result is no different to ours, and first year subjects count for a measly ~2% of the GPA.   Next year is make or break.

And everyone seems to love the free stuff...I love the pub crawls!  So much fun.

I will take the memory of the conga line around the roundabout of death during o-week to my grave as one of the funniest things I've ever seen haha!

I prefer to think of it as 1/6th of final GPA, wouldnt third year be make it or break it, especially since 1/2 of final GPA will lie in the few subjects taken in S1/last summer, as S2 isnt released in time?

EDIT: Now when you say roundabout of death... you mean literally 'a roundabout'? If you do its aptly named!

I want to be a host at o week but I feel like I'd be the worst host because I never have any fun, so I think I will save my group and not apply.

Ohhh, is that how they weight it?...in which case, yeah.  Probably don't want to screw that up.  But at least, well for biomeds, we get to choose it.

And yes, an actual roundabout.   A  huge one...well, it was a roundabout until vicroads finally decided to fix it earlier this year.  Now it has traffic lights everywhere.  It is that huge intersection at the corner of Flemmington Rd and Royal Pde.

And yay to O-week hosting...cannot wait to try and entertain social recludes for like 4 hours...

Nah, I am seriously excited by it, but I hope they actually try to socialise and at least get involved a bit.  Statistically impossible, I know... :(

Hopefully we'll have another VN meetup again :P I think we had it for 4-5 years so far and it gets worse as the years go by :(

Are hosts compensated for their efforts?

$80 bookshop voucher, shirt, certificate

Quite awesome, I did the host thing 4 times and enrolments 4 times, that equates to about $560 in bookshop credit LOL :P

Who else is doing summer school? :)  I'm doing principles of marketing and considering doing a second (another breadth) but they all look pretty bad. Wish I could do beginner latin...

I would do it, and really should do it just to ease the workload later in the year...but all the summer subjects look so bluuugh.  Marketing is probably one of the better ones though.  :)

They are all really bad D: I'll still be doing 4 subjects each semester, I'm just trying to finish as fast as I can. So depressing to know I should have been up to graduating by now grrrr.
