I don't think study scores can be over 50, unless it scales higher, but that DOES NOT happen with studio arts, or at least, it hasn't ever happened, to my knowledge.
So pretty much, all study scores for all subjects are calculated the same.
To get right up the top, you pretty much need to ace absolutely everything, because of how the system works.
Studio arts final marks are composed a bit differently to a lot of other subjects, with 33% based on classwork/folio in first semester, 33% based on final pieces/ second semester work, and 33% based exam mark. Most are only half sacs, and half exam, or 40% VS 60%.
The marks you get for these things are all added together using some crazy voodoo statistical maths, and then it's fitted into what's called a bell curve.
Here are some diagrams of how scaling works, if you haven't / aren't doing maths. Excuse the crudeness, no mouse or photoshop on this here laptop.

In short: You don't just get thrown into top marks. To get a high mark at anything, you need to do well compared to anyone else doing the subject. If you want to be the BEST you have to do the BEST at everything in the first place.
It's the way the system works, there's not much we can do about it. It's good and bad, depending what you've chosen to do and how good you are at it.
