The second On the Waterfront question happens to be remarkably similar to a topic I've written about in the past :D

Really Sucked to Year of Wonders, the second prompt was nuts.

Yeah, Year of Wonders was like FML...

I wrote on the second one though - discussed how the texture is structured in media res, the metastructural elements of chapter titles and their contribution to the notion of seasons, and how these factors coalesce into providing a sense of temporal time. And some other stuff. Just happy its over. Hoping for a 50/60 on the exam..
hey dont worry guy, i'm sure you'll do great, at least a 35 from what i can tell

Those of you that did YOW topic one what did you write about? What were your topic sentences? :)

Well My first paragrapgh was about how the gowdies had no choice of their uncessecary murder.

My second paragraph was about how Anys unlike like most women villages did have choice in relation to their everyday lives, as she is not bound as a mans chattel. She has her own work, house freedom etc. somthing very few can claim.

My third was aahhhh I think abt how the people of Eyam did get the direct choice of wheter to stay and confine themselves away from the world to contain the plague from spreading, I did mention that Brooks used the Bradfords as a way to divert the idea  that unlike the bradfords most of the villagers choice was decided for them as they had no money or resources to relocate. I did also mention the bit of where they were to go? once other surrounding villages reallised that they came from the plague village. Hence I used Brand and maggie cantwells ordeal.

My fourth paragraph was referring to the little choice that the weak and grieving remaining villagers had little choice but to give into to Joss Bonts grave diggin service.

I didnt get enugh time to Talk about how Joss and Aphra had choice of the conduct they pursued, and I didnt get time to talk of how Anna and Elinor decided to take up the role of the Gowdies, as herbalist.

What did you write??
Oh okay! Sounds good! Well I had a five minute internal debate whether to do YOW (which I had spent most of my time preparing) or just do On The Waterfront which I had done throughout the year. Ended up doing OTW - though YOW topics were tricky, which was a pity!

What were the prompts for YOW?
They let us take our booklets home (well, they actually kind of made us take them so they wouldn't have to pick them up later):

i. "In the end, I [Anna] did not make the choice so much as have it made for me."
Is this true of other characters in the village?

ii. How does Brooks develop a sense of time and of place in this novel?

Naturally, I had an easy time in deciding to do the first one.

Naturally, I was a fucking idiot and decided to take a massive risk and do the second one, where i talked about Anna's narration, and the language and structure Brooks uses/adopts.
I wrote the whole thingy trying to ignore the fact that I probably wouldnt pull it off.

Awkward moment when you realise that everyone is quoting your comment, and it is grammatically in correct. *Face palm*

About Philosophy

When I see a youth thus engaged,—the study appears to me to be in character, and becoming a man of liberal education, and him who neglects philosophy I regard as an inferior man, who will never aspire to anything great or noble. But if I see him continuing the study in later life, and not leaving off, I should like to beat him - Callicle

What happens if u wrote your essay plan on the first page of lined paper of the answer book rather than in the rough work only side? and started the essay on the next page?
Nt sure if i make any sense..
is there anything wrong with doing that

YOW... unexpected! I did the first, and interpreted as the choice in reactions to the plague/crisis.

School did Cosi and on The Waterfront
Opened the question booklet, saw the Cosi questions thought NO WAY IN HELL.
Turned and saw OTW prompts, jizzzz.
Hey guys I have a question, when i had to hand in the paper I saw i forgot to fill in how many answer booklets I used, but I only used one anyway, they still will flip open that book and see that I did do the essays right? Stupid examiner swept it off my desk before I could move :(

Should be alright, this is a very minor issue, especially if you had blank pages in your book anyway :)

Don't stress, but if you want, you could call/email VCAA just for peace of mind :)

For "who has the greater influence on Paul's development: his parents or Keller?"

Could someone please tell me if it was alright to say both have a great influence but ultimately it was his own self that had the greatest influence?

How much did you dedicate to talking about Paul's own self?
