Really Sucked to Year of Wonders, the second prompt was nuts.

What were the prompts for YOW?

The first one was a quote from Anna then What other characters do this or something.

the second once was how does brooks show a sense of time? Some really messed up structural one.

The two prompts were:

- "In the end, I [Anna] did not make the choice so much as to have it made for me." Is this true of other characters in the village?
- "How does Brooks develop a sense of time and of place in this novel?"

Definitely harder than last year's prompts, but still do-able.

A Farewell to Arms prompts were rather simple and cliched, I was expecting something far more ambiguous

TOTALLY AGREE! Basically the first one said we can forgive Richard if he's smart and the second one was asking if we could forgive Richard? WTF?!? Seriously VCAA, instead of repeating the same topic, why don't you include a THEME TOPIC instead of TWO RICHARD TOPICS!

Honestly I felt the two topics were basically about Richard and the audience. I chose the first one, said that the audience can kind of forgive Richard because he's so smart and all but then after he killed he two princes, he goes to far and we can't excuse his actions. But then we like him again when he dies since he's all brave and shit.

Well least it wasn't CONSCIENCE as everyone predicted. Though someone of my friends interpreted the second topic as being conscience and I guess that kind of works.

Really Sucked to Year of Wonders, the second prompt was nuts.

What were the prompts for YOW?
They let us take our booklets home (well, they actually kind of made us take them so they wouldn't have to pick them up later):

i. "In the end, I [Anna] did not make the choice so much as have it made for me."
Is this true of other characters in the village?

ii. How does Brooks develop a sense of time and of place in this novel?

Naturally, I had an easy time in deciding to do the first one.
I won the GAT: 49/50/50.

Oh wow. They are indeed tougher than last year's.
Second one is startling, to say the least. :o

Naturally, I was a fucking idiot and decided to take a massive risk and do the second one, where i talked about Anna's narration, and the language and structure Brooks uses/adopts.
I wrote the whole thingy trying to ignore the fact that I probably wouldnt pull it off.

2nd prompt
I talked about being unable to forgive richard for some of his actions
he is dehumanized hence beyond HUMAN forgiveness
He him self does not ask for forgiveness but rather, accepts his doom
His godlessness, meant that there would only be divine retribution, no forgiveness

On the waterfront prompts were really do-able :). I ended up doing Text Response first (even though I'd gone in with a plan to do lang anal first) because it was so good =D

Did the second of the two although could have done the first. Thought second was slightly easier.

Ah, pretty darn good prompts for A Christmas Carol. I was stoked when I saw them, the second one allowed a lot of freedom in the essay since it could be interpreted in so many different ways.   :D

I really, really wanted to do a theme essay. I think I cried when I saw the second question. I didn't go near it, I didn't have enough descriptive quotes to back up what I wanted to say.
