Contention of the Language Analysis

Basically I was an idiot and said the subheading was her contention.
Something along the lines as, in the past the tattoo were for degenerates and now they are more positively viewed and widespread.
In addition, Days used the bookcover to acknowledge that some may regret their tattoos done out of peer-pressure but the visual does not necessarily challenge Days contention as it does not oppose getting a tattoo. I also said that, Days does not seem to show regret over getting a tattoo and provides a positive portrayal of getting a tattoo.

Now in hindsight, I see that Days contention was that the "power of ink" has decreased in modern times, they used to be meaningful but now they are meaningless and has degenerated into mere fashion statements. Furthermore, the book cover agrees that tattoos done out of peer pressure or just ill thought could cause regret as they are meaningless, similar to Days' which no longer symbolises her rebellious past.

I think I did the other things all right... do you guys think I would be able to get at least a 6/10, since I stuffed up the contention?

i've only skimmed the language analysis so i can't help you too much with regards to what this woman was contending. basically if you stuff up the contention you -can- still do well -- as long as you either stay relatively close to the contention OR you still have good language analysis techniques.

arguably if you COMPLETELY stuff up the contention you should not be able to write an essay because everything that you identify has to somehow link to the contention.

i imagine you should be fine. if it's any consolation -- when my school did our language analysis SAC more or less the entire year level stuffed up the contention. i still managed to pull a low A+.

it seems like the entire cohort got a little bit thrown by this particular language analysis.

Yeah your contention is off, but many people did get something along those lines. Highlights the importance of reading the last paragraph or last few sentences in any language analysis a couple of times. Nonetheless, I think you can still pull a 6, even if the intents of your techniques might be a bit off. Don't worry about it too much now. Good luck.
