Assumed Knowledge

So every Mehods 1 paper for the last few years has had an assumed knowledge question and most probably this years one will have one too. So if we all came up with bits and pieces of this "assumed knowledge" we could be better prepared fo the exam.

Everything that is assumed knowledge is mentioned in the study design. If it's not on there then they can't examine you on it.

And also, what kind of questions are you referring to that require assumed knowledge?

Thanks for the info

What I meant was that the last question on every paper for the last few years has been an assumed knowledge question.

As in that notorious "Cone of Death" question on last year's paper?

I reckon it will be a gradient question this year simliar to what we had in 07 i think it was :)
Or they may test similar triangles again since heaps of ppl did bad on it, but if they did it wouldnt be worth many marks.
Keep in mind the trig properties ;) I reckon it will come up somewhere...

It was VCAA 2010 tech-free, essentially the common mistake was that most of the state were unaware of similar triangles (albeit shiftily placed).

Ah I see, it does seem tricky for a methods question, especially since they usually explicitly draw out similar triangles don't they? (as in they make it really obvious).

Apparently a common incorrect error was h/5=r/2 which is pretty much using simliar triangles but with the wrong values. So it seems like a lot of ppl just used that technique without thinking about what they were doing.
Going to be interesting to see what they throw at us tomorrow!

yeah some people saw the triangles but used the wrong ones..

eg. Luffy :P who used the wrong triangles and ended up losing all 5 marks onthat question. THE ONLY 5 MARKS HE LOST ON BOTH EXAMS :O

Yeah, there was a gradient question in the 2005 paper I think. I'm hoping that there will be one hard as related rates question. :D

It's unlikely taht they would put a questoin in that gives the spesh kids a distinct advantage... In saying that, i really hope they do!! :P

I'm shitting myself lol, I haven't been studying for spesh at all and I'm not sure whether I want an easy exam or a hard one tomorrow. Kinda leaning towards a hard one cause I make so much retarded mistakes.
