Alternative method (old):

Go to webchat.freenode.net

Nickname: your username
Channels: #atarnotes
Ignore "auth to services"
Type in the captcha
Connect

Or if you have IRC software we are room #atarnotes on the freenode network.

We've also registered the #vcestudy room for study-related chat. We also have a more general #vce room, which survived from the early days.

If you're sick of sending PMs to someone and want to chat without revealing your MSN/skype, you can start a private messaging session with them if you're both in the IRC room.
