Can anyone remember the values given for question 8 about the Pr(A' intersect B) question?

Can't figure out why my answer was wrong :S

Pr(A) = 3/5, Pr(B) = 1/4 was it?

And then what was given for Pr(A union B) for part A?

Would I get at least one mark for mentioning (-infinite,-8] intersection [-2,infinite) n.b it should be union not intersection and the question was worth 2 marks.

+1. You'll probably get one mark.

On another note, would I get one mark for writing (-infinite,-8)U(-2, infinite)? Basically I forgot to include -8 and -2 in the domain.

FUARK THAT DOMAIN QUESTION T-T
SO TRICKY :/
hey guys where do you reckon the 2 marks would be allocated? I thought the function was a circle and hence my domain was wrong LOL. Do you think they'd give one mark for stating 'rang is a subset of domf'? Cheers

a) Pr (A n B) = Pr (A) + Pr (B) - Pr (A u B) = 3/5 + 1/4 - 3/4, then Pr (A' n B) = Pr (B) - Pr (A n B) = 3/20.
b) Pr( A'nB) = Pr (B) - Pr (A n B)  = Pr(B) = 1/4 (as Pr(A n B)=0, A, B are mutually ex...)

for the probability question
if you started the equation by saying Integral from 3.5 - 2 blah blah blah
but throughout all your working out you stupidly worked out 3.5 - 0
would i get any marks

ovasly both my answers were wrong as for
a) i got 3/8
b) 1 ovasly wrong haha

would i get anymarks?
I got the same answers as you did. Im pretty sure consequential marks will be allocated

Lol i got that too!! Completely forgot that you have to seperate the modulus into two equations!!!!! :(

so many goddamn fractions to work out
hate them, and the fact that I integrated the probability density function
what a nightmare today

no you dont

you diff the negative f(x) from 3.5 to 3
diff the positive function from 3-2

add together, if you draw it out it intersects at 3

if i remember correctly.... spent so long on it all can i remember is this one

lol I did fractions too.
but the easiest way was to use symmetry and triangles..
still got the answers though.

He's talking about the 1/(3x+4) Question.
You did need modulus.

Also, if i wrote ln|x+4/3| /3 will i still get the marks for the antidiff question?
