did anyone get C for MC question 19?? :(
dy/dx = 4 so the gradient should be -1/4, not 1/4

i think you are looking at the wrong question. question 19 was the one about percentage error of the area approximation.

K can't equal 0 as if it did then,

y = x^3 + 2x^2 + cx

TP must occur when y=x

x= x^3 + 2x^2 + cx
0 = x^3 + 2x^2 + (c-1)x
0=x(x^2 + 2x +c -1)

x = 0, x = - sqrt(-c+2) - 1, x= sqrt(-c+2) - 1

This suggests three intercepts but with a turning point there should only be 1. There is no conceivable value for c which would satisfy the conditions
- sqrt(-c+2) - 1 = 0

and

sqrt(-c+2) - 1 = 0.

Thus k cannot 0 =D. If there's something wrong in my proof please point it out.

Oh right, sorry =S
p was around 25, so answer was D

The actual area was 72 units
The estimated area was 91 units, 19 more
Which is 19/72*100 = 26.39% more

damn. is the percentage calculated by difference/actual * 100? i did difference/estimated * 100 :( i seriously have issues with percentage error stuffs.

With the last Pr question on the chocolates I left out 0.5*(Pr(A)+Pr(B)) and only wrote 0.5Pr(A)+Pr(B) and got some weird answer given that I had the idea write found Pr(3>Y)=23/32 and did other working do you reckon I'll get 2/3  1/3  or 0/3?

I'd say 1.

Re: topic

I'd say it was a fair exam. Not too much harder than last years imo. A surprising amount of diff, but I'd rather that then bloody matrices :)

Haha, I wish I owned it, I made plenty of mistakes if iTute is anything to go by. I disagree with a few of their solutions from memory...
