That sounds like a major, major mistake on the school's part to assume the text would be on.

I can't imagine going through that. You'd have put in so much work and effort on your texts! Major exam panic mode.

OMG. I think I'd kill my lit teacher. I suppose they would've had to use their other text that would suck so much.

Oh my God yeah I read about that. How terrible, I'd be devastated. I really don't understand how something like that can happen though...

It also makes logical sense, this is not the first time such stupidity from a school has disadvantaged the students.
