Just finding lots of topics to write compositions on/doing practice listening and reading, working through grammar book to refresh the basics so I don't make dumb mistakes. That's about it, really.
I won the GAT: 49/50/50.

Fair enough, so hard to study for this when everyone's partying  :'(

btw what kind/how many grammatical devices are you planning to use for the writing task part?
i.e. future, subjunctive, conditional etc

Depends on the piece, just try and chuck in a few nice expressions.

EDIT: To elaborate, you could (by way of example) use lots of imperative/subjunctive in a brochure or speech, whereas a diary entry would be a good opportunity to show off your passe compose and imparfait conjugation skills. Make sure your moods, tenses and overall tone are aligned with the task at hand.

omg tell me about it! I had a huge gap between Methods exam 2 and Japanese, it was 9 days and I found myself lapsing into holiday mode. Now I've got to try to get my motivation up and running for French next Tuesday. :(

But in general I'm just trying to write a lot of practice essays and find my own mistakes.

and LOL, I'm also rewatching my entire collection of Les Aventures de Tin Tin in French. :P
2010: Psychology
2011: ESL, Methods, Biology, Japanese SL, French.

In the end, we all hate our subjects.

Je suis jalous que t'as Tin Tin  :D. Je peux pas la trouver.

Anyways, I've just been doing shiet loads of essays, trying to slip back into study mode. All my friends are having pre-schoolies parties (I've got one tonight :S) so the motivation is really hard to find. Just been watching "Friends" in french dub. Joey's voice is hilarious  ;D

^ Damn it's so distracting that everyone else has finished. My friends were nice enough to hold off celebrations until I finish :)

what do you guys think the essay topic will be?

Personally I hope its environment, travel, school, holidays, health and fitness or any other topic I can relate these things to.

What about you guys,

ps, just for comparison, how long does it take you to finish the listening and reading. I generally have about 50-60 minutes, but the 2010 has a bit longer. Its ridiculous that the essay is only worth 15 marks haha

they really random so its hard to predict lol :/
hopefully something about school/year 12 or your plans for the future etc, would be easy to plan

hmm usually around the same, depends on the detail
because VCAA ask for such specific answers :/
so I try to not to rush

btw do you guys know any good sites for revision (for listening/comprehension)
just finished VCAA 2010 and don't know what to do other than writing tasks now D:

Truth be told, the exam in essence is a comprehension exam. The writing section is worth a measly 15 marks compared to the others (30 marks for reading and 30 marks for listening)

It's true, if you get 100% on the first two sections and 0 on the writing, you're still looking at an 80% ~ 40+
