Failing a unit

Say, if I fail the second unit of what I was planning to major in and I re-do it next year. Does that count as 2 first year units or 1? I'm only allowed to take 10 first year units so I would like to know if it counts or not for re-enrollment. Thanks

Also, does it matter if I change my course map around or is it pretty rigid? Like can I do 3 of my major units next year and 3 in my final year?

If you check on your results, have a look if they gave you credit for it, if its 0.00, then it doesn't count as being done.

99.99% of the time if you fail a unit credit isn't granted for it, its just as if you didn't do that unit (besides the fail on your transcript).

The whole idea of a course map is pretty bullshit, its just for people who have no idea what they're doing. If you know what you need to do and you know all the rules and requirements enough not to screw yourself over, you're fine. No one will call you up on it.

I've done heaps of dodgy things, like taking a level 1 math subject (which is a requirement for science) in my 3rd year, because its easy and later year results are weighted more heavily for med applications. Most people did it in the 1st year but you technically dont have to.

That's not even dodgy--perfectly legit. You can do whatever you want, however you want as long as you satisfy the course requirements and restrictions eg. no more than 10 first year subjects, at least 6 3rd year subjects--stuff along those lines.

It's officially dodgy now. I swear they changed the handbook on me...apparently i'm not allowed to enroll in any level 2 units before i take my level 1 math, THAT WAS NOT IN THERE BEFORE. You can't change the handbook though and i read it at least 20 times, i didn't miss it, don't know whats up with that (yes it was the handbook for the year i enrolled, 2011, not the 2012 one). So, it is officially dodgy now :p. The system didn't stop me from enrolling.

Haha and don't worry mate, i know the inns and outs of it very well by now.

Then you're right, it is dodgy, because the system doesn't really have many restrictons xD I enrolled in 6 subjects last semester and it didn't stop me...until one day i was talking to the EPSC and they were like, did you get permission to overload? I was like uh....


edit: wait a minute...I'm talking about melb uni though...are you?

I'm talking monash but both in the GO8, so they're probably fans of screwing us just as equally.

To be honest, i really like the fact no one checks. We really do know whats better for us sometimes than them. (Well they check when you graduate and if you haven't fulfilled what they want you're a little fucked but besides from that...)
