Goddamn it's such a bitch distinguishing genres

I know! Sometimes, progressive house and trance kinda sound similar to me, and I can't tell them apart! Just hope the ID3 tags are right :P

I recall them calling it "deep house" or "deep trance"

But yeah, when people ask what I listen to, I generally say Trance and House... That way, anything in between is covered haha.

Definitely. Out of bad habit i distinguish everything under 'trance' and cannot tell anything apart. I'm trying to break it by just saying EDM

Every artist worth their weight in salt has a distinct sound. I'm almost tempted to say each artist has their own 'subgenre'. This is not like any other genre, where different bands compare their skills on the same instrument, and you can somewhat group them together. Every producer literally runs an entirely unique ensemble on their laptops. It's chaotic and glorious =')

While also not strictly trance, I've been listening to Andrew Bayer recently. His new album "If it were you we'd never leave" is pretty sweet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41mnpn3kH5g

Such a brilliant album. Bayer is god. I really hope he does a world tour off the back of this album. I would really like to see a proper headline set from him.

This isn't strictly trance but thought I'd share it because it's one of the best progressive house tracks I've heard in a while :)

This is a brilliant find. Holy cow.

This has to be one of my favourite deep house tracks.

So much love for deep house here. Time for a new thread methinks?

Bump...
I would really like to see this thread active again as it's forming an interesting discussion.  :)

EDIT: Here's something to start us off http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=trance
For some reason, I'm starting to wonder whether that definition can be true (in some way...)
Post your thoughts here. Not sure if it's been posted in his thread before lol.
