Yes.
:P

To be fair though, I think eventually it gets to the point that we just complain for the sake of complaining - you will understand post-high school.

Yeah I did, I initially wanted to but after I registered I thought I would just leave it and wait til the due date passed but I got the email telling me to finish the application so I did. I hope I get in because it seems like a prestigious program and I'd love to put it in my resume.

Yeah it looks really good! I'm really hoping they'll look at my leadership experience more favourably than my grades, I really didn't want to mention VCE haha. We might both get in  :D

Hey guys, not sure if this is the right thread, but if I were to do a double degree next year; would I be able to drop it if I don't like one of them? Would there be any extra fees or anything?

You certainly can discontinue one of your degrees; I'm not sure if you can do so at any point (you can certainly withdraw from a degree's units at any time before the census date), but the whole process might be a bit of a hassle regardless. I'd advise that you do some in-depth research into your single- and double-degree options before deciding which to do :)

afaik the process of switching into a double degree is similar to the process of an internal transfer. Not difficult (hopefully) but not guaranteed.

I know that at some places you can do what's called an "alternative exit" which is where you can graduate with one qualification, but not both, after you have fulfilled certain criteria for that qualification. Not sure about Monash though, the material available publicly isn't clear on this point.

Best talk to a course advisor.

It's not even the third week, and my stats lecturer is already a week behind... Doesn't help that the unit co-ordinator/our actual lecturer is out of town until week 5. Shit is going to hit the fan when he gets back.

Should I be at all worried about the amount of work I'm going to get smashed with upon the unit co-ordinator's return, or do you guys think that 8 weeks is enough time to ease us back through the course, even if we end up effectively losing two weeks because of this replacement?

Which stats unit is this? If it's STA1010 or SCI1020 you're absolutely fine, but I have a strange feeling you're doing one of those bonkers units like MTH2232 (in which case I can't really offer any advice aside from maybe try to go ahead in the theory so the blow is softened when the coordinator comes back? Best case scenario they cut some examinable content from the end-of-semester exam to compensate for time lost etc.)

Yeah, I'm doing MTH2232 - and at the start of the week, STA1010 were ahead of us. :\ I think they still might be, but I'd have to check with a friend of mine doing it...

The real annoying part is I don't know if the current lecturer realises that we have homework due in for each tute that we can't do because he's not teaching us fast enough, hopefully the tutors are able to compensate... I might send mine an e-mail if I can't do one of the assessed problems by the time it's due.

There is like less then ten JMSS kids at the library during the day. It is not that much of a difference.
