- I'm not aware of any data limits on eduroam or the guest wireless, and I've used them quite a bit over the years.

I've been told it's 1GB per student per semester.

Two noob type questions but hey guess that's what being a jaffy is all about! What is the data limit when using the Monash internet under your log in? ~ if there is one.
Secondly, are we allowed to drink coffees or even eat (non crunchy food LOL) during lectures? Thanks!!!

There is kind of an acceptable use policy. If you use gigabytes a day and they see its on movies or video games, you may get in trouble, otherwise, its fine. Plenty of people use youtube and all that. They're such a huge organisation with such a huge internet connection its not a big deal unless you're obviously and constantly abusing it.

(coffee) There is no real rule about that. Uni is much more up to the individual lecturer and coordinator. Most are fine with it, its quite common to see people do that. Once during a test i started to eat M&M's one by one and apparently it annoyed the shit out of my lab partner. So...stay away from M&M's.

----
Today was a pretty good day, despite going in on like 45 minutes sleep. The lectures are pretty interesting so far, it's interesting studying the bible with someone who can speak hewbrew. Apparently Monash has a copy of the bible in manga form, i'm going to pick that up tomorrow too.

ALSO DONT FORGET CLUBS DAY IS 11-3PM TOMORROW. Don't forget to have your last chance to get most of the clubs in the same place! IF you join more than a few an MSA card is definitely worth it!

I was under the impression only water was allowed in the lecture theatres - I may have heard wrong though.
Well, the long answer is that it's all going to depend on your lecturer. Some lecturers don't care if you rock up halfway through the lecture, others might not let you in if you're 10 minutes late. Some are happy for quiet conversation to go on in the back row (or, at least one that I know of lmao), others will give them a quick "could I just get some quiet up the back?", and others still will stop the lecture altogether to make a point about audience etiquette.

More than likely some lecturers would be anal on the food question, but in my experience I've been able to eat crappy campus centre pasta in lectures  ::)

WITH breaks is fine.
WITHOUT breaks is a death-trap. Lectures are fairly draining, moreso than a high school class, and labs and tutorials even moreso - the worst part being, more often than not, labs and tutes are assessed/will carry assessment with them (and labs are often hurdles, too - making it worse...)

If you really do have 8 hour days without a single break, I'd suggest changing it - particularly because you're not meant to eat in lectures, and DEFINITELY NOT in labs, and food is important to staying concentrated.
If you've got classes without break from 8 until 2, I would strongly recommend you take the time to have something to eat when possible. A day like that is going to be a real struggle without food (I don't like eating at uni so I choose to keep my days as short as possible hahaha).

That is just a little bit insane. Make sure you eat and stay hydrated during this period. At the very least, you'll sleep well Thursday nights!

Just a little amendment to what Euler says above^: Most lecturers don't really have an issue with people eating during lectures (especially during lunchtime-ish classes), provided that the food isn't noisy to eat/very odorous. A sandwich is perfectly fine.

If you feel you can't manage a day this long, that's perfectly fine too. In your position I'd probably skip a couple of lectures and watch them later at home.

I know it seems intense, but I feel I'll be able to cope with it. I guess I'll see how gacked I am at 4:30 this Thursday :P

It's not wholly taught in Hebrew (obviously, for a general audience). However it focuses on the tanakh/old testament of the bible + the lecturer teaches other subjects about Judaism and is of Jewish descent and speaks Hebrew himself. http://www.monash.edu.au/pubs/2015handbooks/units/ATS2185.html

It's great because he's pointed out a lot of things the translations don't really make clear or sometimes perhaps even deliberately gloss over. It's a fairly pretty language to listen to him reading it in too! A little annoyingly though, like most academia, its kind of debatable how charitable/kind he is in his criticism.

I feel like i'll never have a more appropriate time to use this either:

Also the best coffee is probably that black and white place near the fish and chip shop (i'm at the stage where i dont remember names or numbers of anything, i just know where they are). Or Cinque Lire but i want to keep that hidden and it is pretty far down the back.

Looks interesting (or at any rate better than the stuff we got taught at school)! I can add it to the pile of arts units I'll never get to do lol :'(

And yeah, Hebrew (the modern one) is a great one to study if you have a spare fuckload of time to learn it

I've never seen a lecturer get upset about drink/food in lecture theatres. You might want to be subtle with booze, though. :P

I think I've tried every coffee place on campus and I don't have a huge preference. If you have the time, then feel free to source the finest coffee you can, but if you're between classes or running late, it shouldn't make too much of a difference.

For this reason, I often get coffee from the corner of Meeting Point (named Coffee Point, I think, which would be apposite) simply because the lines are short to non-existent.
