hey,
I was originally planning on doing doubling my global studies degree with commerce but after undertaking mth1010 I've decided I absolutely hate maths and will 100% fail and will probably withdraw pretty soon before withdrawn goes on my record (not sure why this is bad but apparently it is). As I really want to do a double degree, am I able to somehow transfer into a Bachelor of laws/arts after my first year with 3 units in the first semester and 4 in the second? The only reason I'm doing a global studies degree is so I can go on exchange and I'm able to do exactly the same units pretty much with arts and I also like law. So is this a hard feat to accomplish or do I just need to get like 80/100 in 3/3 and 4/4 units for the next 2 semesters?
tah.
As i warned you earlier in the thread, many people fail MTH1010. This is because they either failed methods the first time around (like me) or haven't taken any math of this nature since year 10. It has far less support compared to a conventional high-school math class too. To be brutally honest, not attending your tutorials probably did not do you any favours at all.
Now, if you can't hack the math in MTH1010, i find it unlikely you would be able to manage the math in many (
but not all) commerce majors. You may be able to do things like "Business", "Business Law, "Accounting" (only basic arithmetic to my knowledge) without a heavy mathematical burden. You do want to withdraw before it goes on your record because (a) it means you don't pay for it and (b) it doesn't look as bad as a fail and it doesn't look as bad as a withdraw.
Every single student of the university is technically eligible to go on exchange so that's not an issue.
Check if law accepts mid-year transfers, if not, you will have to wait for the end of the year. Law needs ~75/80 WAM to be safe. If you do it mid-year (which im not sure they allow), they will also consider your ATAR. If you fail to get in you can try at the end of the year. If you do not make it by then or by definitely the end of your second year, i would just give up on the LLB and aim for the Juris Doctor after you finish.
