Today was the first time that I have ever ordered a hot chocolate from Fibonacci.

Nick: "Hey there. Just a small soy hot chocolate, please."
Barista: "A soy what?"
Nick: "Hot chocolate."
Barista: "... Who are you?!"
Hhahahahahah although a soy hot chocolate sounds really weird. How did it taste? ^_^

Ergh, I really hate SCI2010 and I have summarises due tomorrow.

Completely break off any form of communication about them and do something that'll keep your mind off him/her :)

Ngl, I've learned more from the TV show Neighbors than I have this unit. Complete bullshit/10.

Time. And don't beat yourself up if you feel you're struggling. And friends. And music.

Did I mention time?

Yeah it's actually horrible, I'm in a pretty bad tute/lab thing for it aswell so that's really annoying. There is one girl in my class that is always trying to brown nose and show off with her knowledge. Anyway, we had a presentation and my policy is always to mark how you would like to be marked (within reason) anyway she 'lead' her table and marked every other group 1/5 or 2/5 whereas we pretty much gave out all 5/5s and 4/5s lol. So annoying.

Oh man. :\ I actually do 2015, which thankfully seems to have much better workshops. Don't worry, we're almost 2/3 of the way through the course... Almost done...

So I realised that next semester I enrolled in a second year unit ATS2975 Building blocs: the European Union and the Asia-Pacific... Am I still allowed to do this as a first year? It's consider as an elective if you specialise in International Relations and so I presume I am? As for course requirements (in terms of first year)

Two year 1 gateway units (12 points):
 ATS1701 Terrorism and political violence: an introduction
 ATS1873 Introduction to international relations

Which I will have completed at the end of this year... so is ATS2975 okay - if not I'd be more than happy to complete my maths unit that I need done sooner or later.

Thanks.

You might need to have permission from the coordinator if you're having problems enrolling through WES. It seems like you've already enrolled so I dont see why not. As long as it fulfils the requirements for your course. You might need to pick up a 1st year unit elsewhere from the Arts faculty later on in your course to meet the minimum amount of 1st year units completed, if that makes sense
2010: History Revolutions 35
2011: English 3/4, Accounting 3/4, Economics 3/4, Mathematical Methods 3/4, International Studies 3/4.

It doesn't matter when you do units, just that you do them after you have pre-reqs done or do them before the units they're pre-reqs for. You can get around these by asking for permission anyway, though.

Just double check to make sure you're fulfilling your course requirements.

afaik you can do Building Blocs so long as you've done at least two first year Arts units. If WES let you enrol in it, it's all good, the handbook just highly recommends you don't do ATS2975 without having done both gateways for IR.

To be honest, knowing the unit coordinator (and having spoken to him a couple of days ago about whether or not I'm equipped to do the unit), I don't know if it would be the best decision to do this as your first 2nd year unit. Personally, I didn't want to do it before doing International Political Economy, but that option doesn't seem to be at all available. If you do end up doing it, maybe we'll be in the same tute!

Thanks for that guys! It seems like I am allowed to do it but just wouldn't be a wise decision... Since all the IR specialisation elective units are either second or third year units, is it okay if I choose one of these electives that not specifically for IR but fall under Global Studies:

ATS1255 Culture, power and globalization
ATS1279 Media and culture
ATS1309 The global challenge
ATS1310 Extreme Earth! Natural hazards and human vulnerability
ATS1320 Nations at war: Revolution and empire
ATS1321 Nations at war: The twentieth century

I have also messaged my tutor and lecturer.

For the course map for science/commerce
(http://www.buseco.monash.edu.au/student/progression/clayton-course-maps/2015-course-maps/1469-bachelor-of-commerce-and-bachelor-of-science-2015.pdf)
it says that i must complete two approved sequences of first year subjects. Can i do another semester 1 subject (thats offered in second semester this year) and then do the second semester subject for this subject in second year? (sorry can't really explain this properly but if u look at the course map you might be able to understand)
thanks
