So I realised that next semester I enrolled in a second year unit ATS2975 Building blocs: the European Union and the Asia-Pacific... Am I still allowed to do this as a first year? It's consider as an elective if you specialise in International Relations and so I presume I am? As for course requirements (in terms of first year)
Two year 1 gateway units (12 points):
ATS1701 Terrorism and political violence: an introduction
ATS1873 Introduction to international relations
Which I will have completed at the end of this year... so is ATS2975 okay - if not I'd be more than happy to complete my maths unit that I need done sooner or later.
Thanks.
afaik you can do Building Blocs so long as you've done at least two first year Arts units. If WES let you enrol in it, it's all good, the handbook just highly recommends you don't do ATS2975 without having done both gateways for IR.
To be honest, knowing the unit coordinator (and having spoken to him a couple of days ago about whether or not I'm equipped to do the unit), I don't know if it would be the
best decision to do this as your first 2nd year unit. Personally, I didn't want to do it before doing International Political Economy, but that option doesn't seem to be at all available. If you do end up doing it, maybe we'll be in the same tute!
