Anyone know if Monash releases results progressively for exams?

First semester at Monash, so I guess I'm a jaffy, even though I'm doing postgrad

They don't - or rather, they haven't in four years of undergrad and a year of postgrad for me.

Question regarding transfers and the like..

How competitive is it to transfer into another course ? Generally speaking ?

To cut a long story short, I think I've figured out what I want to do with my life (yay 8)) and I don't really know how to get there. I have a friend in my course who transferred last year and she told me that they still look at your ATAR. Can anyone confirm if this is true ?

I want to transfer into B.Comm at Melbourne but the required ATAR was 95 and I got around 82. Realistically, I think I have zero chance of getting into the course, so I looked at Monash and the clearly in was 90. Do I have a shot at getting in here ? Is there any other university that's decent for commerce ?

Please help a struggling girl out. She'll buy you coffee *blows a kiss*
Transferring into B.Comm at UoM is definitely competitive, given the prestige and being one of the best business courses around. Also, it's kinda hard to transfer externally rather than internally, especially a mid year transfer.Your atar might not cut it as they will look at your atar so your best bet would be an internal transfer, Monash bcomm. You have a better chance and if it doesn't go well, your last resort would be business at Caulfield. I believe if you submitted a transfer to business you'd be approved right away, given the atar for the course was 82.25 and you got ~82 given that you had alright marks this semester.
Side note: business and commerce have the same 1st year core units so if you can't make it in commerce, go into business, do the semester, transfer for start of next year as those subjects will be credited as they are more of less the same.

No idea, but it's bloody annoying. I just change it to something random and then immediately change it back. Apparently against the rules, but it's never stopped for so far! :D

Security. In school I had to change it every term. Once a semester isn't too bad.

Changing passwords every once in a while actually does help secure your account. Not by much though.

It's funny how they think we can't do that...

In other news, gotta love it when the lecturer makes a typo in the exam which leads to you getting a nonsense answer. >.<;

Thanks so much V ! I think I'll just go to business @ Caulfield. About getting credit, if all of first year gets credited, does that mean I could transfer straight into 2nd year commerce @ Clayton ?

Hahaha the amount of typos is actually quite funny.. Monash needs to get it's spelling up to scratch -.-

Can anyone here who has done ESC1011/ENV1011 (Planet Earth: Our place in the universe) offer some advice on how to approach the exam?

I literally despise this horrible subject but I need to perform at least decently in the exam to ensure that my chances for transferring aren't completely ruined by this unit. I'm having difficulty because with no past exams and very few sample questions I simply don't know what I should be emphasising my study on.

I do have a very strong suspicion that the exam questions remain similar from exam to exam, so if anyone here who has sat this exam before can recall some of the questions asked I would be most grateful :).

 Thanks.

EDIT: And yes, I posted this at 3am because I procrastinated studying this dreary unit all day and instead opted to play league of legends #worth

The lack of resources for that unit is absolutely stupid. I don't remember much, but I do remember one of the long answer questions was about the rock cycle and another was about how volcanos are formed and stuff like that.

If you go to the consultations Jim (the big bloke) will probably feed you some answers if you're subtle enough about it.

What did you think of Marion?

No you don't get kicked out.

If you fail more than 4 out of 8 of your full time units in a year (or a core unit twice) then you go to the academic progress board where you justify why you have been failing, and they can kick you out if you clearly have no chance/desire to improve/are just wasting the uni's and yours time. I doubt you're one of those people since you actually care about passing.

Yeah, I agree that it is quite ridiculous how few resources there are for this unit (at least compared to my other ones). Thanks for some hints on what to expect on the exam!

At the beginning of unit I quite liked Marion since she is pretty funny/sarcastic which is a welcome change from certain other lecturers that are as boring as the ESC content. I do find her a bit difficult to approach though since I'm worried she will just give me a sarcastic response to any question I ask her, lol.
