Erm... All that's really left for you (in terms of first year maths) is MTH1020

Also MTH1020 isn't easy  :-X

Probably missing something extremely obvious here, but would MAT1830 be an option? It's kinda geared more towards computer science students, but it seems kinda decent as a unit on its own. Unless you can't take it for breath, but I haven't yet managed to find a reason why you wouldn't be able to (though my searching has been relatively superficial). Can't comment on how easy it is though.

Lel, I keep forgetting that's a unit. Awks. :| (particularly since I'm friends with two of its tutors...)

Guys, I really need some advice and I apologize in advance for the essay.

I plan to transfer into business at the end of this year and my parents are telling me to talk to my friends in second year and get the books so I can "study". Apparently you have to keep learning if you want a job. I'm just like the fuck ? Is there any point in doing this ? Ffs all I wanted was to enjoy my holidays ><

No worries, hardly an essay :P

By "Apparently you have to keep learning if you want a job", do you mean studying in the holidays? Or do you refer to working in a job and continual learning and/or professional development that may take place in that environment?

I'm gonna assume the former, I don't think it's necessary in any degree to study during the holidays. Holidays should be enjoyed, because when you have a "real job" you probably won't get months off. Having said that, in my experience, doing some light reading towards the end of the break does help. I do this because I don't want to go from 0 to 100 studying/hr in Week 1, I'd rather build up to it with 2-3 weeks of light reading. This also familiarises me with the course content and gives me a heads-up for which aspects of the semester may need more or less work.

As for your parents, can't really help there. I'm fortunate to have very chill parents haha :P

Hope that helps, take it easy, but not too easy! :)

Your parents probably heard that from some other curry parent who wants to brag about how their kid got a Grad position at Toyota Finance.

In reality, their kid spent all his time at Matheson Library just to get away from his parents, checked out all the curry girls that walked past him, all the while his parents thought he was slaving away at The Financial Review and The Economist. He also probably crammed 12 weeks worth of lectures into the day before his exam.

If it's unclear what my point is, I dont think you need to keep learning to get a job, you need decent marks which would be helped by studying ahead of time :P

If anything you should be spending the holidays doing something away from uni books. Work on a project, join an interest group etc and you'll find that having those things to talk about during an interview is going to be a lot more useful then "Oh, I've been reading the Australian Financial Review since 1st year. I even sacrificed my winter break of my first ever university holidays to stay in a library to get ahead."

just get some books and magazines you want to read and stick on the cover of business books/journals so it looks like you're studying when you read them.

you're happy and your parents are happy.
