Ahh that sucks man. I wish you all the best because I know how hard it would be if I had to pay my fees upfront! Best of luck with becoming a citizen :).

Any ideas on what area or major you wanna do in Commerce? I would definitely spend the first semester doing units where your interests are, it will make the initial transition to uni much more bearable.

I'm not sure. Accounting or Finance. I want to start with an easier one...any recommendations?

Well, the accounting unit this year has been changed from previous years so it's hard to give a recommendation. That being said, accounting in previous years had one of the highest fail rates of any unit at the university, so if you do intend on doing accounting in semester one then make sure you devote A LOT of time to it and do plenty of practice material in your textbook.

I would recommend doing principles of microeconomics in semester one personally. Stephen King is the lecturer in semester one and he is fantastic, and it's quite interesting and intuitive. Plus, perhaps you will really enjoy it and want to take up more economics units down the line!

On a sidenote, have u heard of the student start-up loan replacing the student start-up scholarship? Im wondering if its worth it. Does anyone know if thats on interest? I know u can pay it back like HECs but i have no clue on the interest rates

I don't think it's worth incurring debt if you don't need to. Personally, I think its fair enough its a loan and not just free money.

A couple of questions:

1. Anyone joined the non-residential colleges at Monash? What are your thoughts?

2. I'm feeling like going on a camp this year but don't know which one to choose from Host Scheme, Faculty ones or Cultural ones (despite being the drunkfest that camps are from what I've heard LOL) but any personal recommendations?

Thanks!

Anyone know which would be better to do first? ENG1003 [Mobile Apps] or ENG1060 [Computing for Engineering].

My first semester looks like this:
- ENG1090 [Foundation Math]
- ENG1001 [Engineering design: lighter, faster, stronger]
- ECC1000 [Introduction to microeconomics]

Thanks!

What course are you in, and why don't you want to go?

Ahkeyy imma try going then, thanks  :)

Biomedical science. Well, I kinda was gonna go but I  have an appointment earlier that day, which will mean that I might be a bit late. And I still haven't figured out how to use public transport .....I've never used public transport before...don't judge. I was hoping to trial going there via public transport before an official day, but haven't got the chance to yet.

Oh and they sent me an email with a flyer that said 'Biomedical science transition program '. Is that the same as the course info session?  cause the dates on that thing is last years dates and it was sent with the email about the course info session.

I'm sure you can ask them what you missed if you tell them about your appointment. Otherwise, get in touch with them ASAP and make sure you catch up. If you look at one of my questions before, I was very close to choosing an incorrect subject, and I was there at the seminar. You can't be too careful!

That's true , I didn't even think of that. Will  contact them if I don't/can't  make it.

What do you guys think about the education faculty (in comparison to other faculties or other unis)? Any good/bad opinions are appreciated. I would prefer replies from those who have done a few subjects from the faculty or an education-related degree, but any are good! Thanks
