Yeah. It's pretty rare. Some recording bands do it to be edgy sometimes. The thing with knockoff Strats is that there are so many things that could go wrong, and it will cost you the price of a real one to bring it up to code. I was looking at getting a second hand Squire, or even an Epiphone for around $200. Do you play?

Yup yup! I don't have an electric either, though, hahah. I also main bass and just do guitar as a side thing - I mainly pluck and chord bash. :P

Here here !

Is SE4 gravel parking free tomorrow ?

Free until semester starts on Monday! Awww yiss.

On Tuesdays, I've got a 9am lecture (1 hour), and then another lecture at 5pm (1 hour). I'm not going to wait around for 7 hours, so I'm just going to go home. Do you live close to campus?

You buy the unit reader from the Monash Bookshop (ground floor of Campus Centre at Clayton).

The unit reader contains all of the required readings for the semester for that particular unit. So, for example, the ATS1371 unit reader would have all of the required readings for ATS1371. The unit reader is required, because you will struggle to get through the unit otherwise.

The unit guide is analogous to a VCE study design, and includes information regarding policy, assessment, referencing requirements, and contact details.

No problem.

This has been the case with a number of units I've enrolled in. I think (kind) unit co-ordinators do this for the first week or two, just to lessen the load on students who haven't yet been able to get their hands on a unit reader.

They vary. Mine have probably been between $19 and $45.

Unit readers are a must.

Textbooks may be 'prescribed' but whether or not you actually need them is subjective. I tend to get Linguistics textbooks but don't bother with International Studies. It's really up to you. Regardless, I would try to avoid buying them new.

I'm not 100% sure about the reading list. It might just be a collection of the readings that you will need to read during the semester. Is it on Moodle or in the unit guide or something?

Unit readers are a must.

Sidenote: not essential for maths. A lot of maths units have unit readers that you follow along with, but I have yet to do a maths unit where you -had- to get it, and could instead opt for the free digital copy.

Thanks for the clarification!

Ah okay. So my unit coordinator told us to get the special textbook for first year crim which is ATS1281: Understanding Crime. Do i still have to get the unit reader? Arent they both going to be the same cos the textbook has readings for week 1.. and so on
