Nah I transferred two units. The test was for modern politics not IR. But thanks for the info on how to get his details.  I haven't read the lecture power points but I'm sure I'd be able to do the assignment just by using those … I'll read them now.

P.S. Sorry I'm retarded. Under the assessment tab I've been there before and there isn't an e-mail or anything to my tutor. Just talks about how I'm marked.

ah ok, you need a bit more than the lecture notes. chapter 13 in the text at least. it's available at the library http://search.lib.monash.edu/primo_library/libweb/action/display.do?tabs=detailsTab&ct=display&fn=search&doc=catau21170153500001751&indx=2&recIds=catau21170153500001751&recIdxs=1&elementId=1&renderMode=poppedOut&displayMode=full&frbrVersion=3&dscnt=0&frbg=&scp.scps=scope%3A%28catelec%29%2Cscope%3A%28catau%29%2Cscope%3A%28MUA%29%2Cscope%3A%28catcarm%29%2Cprimo_central_multiple_fe&tab=default_tab&dstmp=1428112227942&srt=rank&mode=Basic&&dum=true&vl(freeText0)=devetak%20introduction%20to%20international%20relations&vid=MON

contact details are the first tab, 'unit administration'.

I was a late transfer I think it was after the census date.

It won't have been after census. Census is the only golden rule you can't get around.

If you have a legitimate reason for not attending class nor submitting assignments, then you should apply for special consideration.

cheers man. I think by the time uni reopens I won't be able to submit it! :P You have ten days to submit it after the date and I'm already on the 7th day with 35% lost. I'll just do a shitty job using Google and the lecture notes tomorrow and live on.

Yeah you're right, it was probably 30 seconds before the census date closed :P But I actually had another unit that I enrolled into about 5 or 6 days after the census date and had a test worth 10% the following day. I just e-mailed a unit coordinator, explained that I wanted to drop a unit and wanted another unit so I could have enough credit points to transfer.

I'm honestly not too fussed about marks I know it is my fault because I'm so disorganised with uni and have no idea what is going on and have done very little to catch up! But one week I was sick (went to doctor the week prior, was prolonged) and the following week (last week) for some reason my back and chest went into a 3-4 day spasm to the point I was put on very strong painkillers because I couldn't move.

Also I'm probably well known for being retarded so i don't need to make any more excuses for myself.

With regards to having a WAM 80% at Monash … Does that mean if I need 48 credit points to transfer into a law degree I need to pass 8 units across the two semesters as well as getting 600/800 possible marks?

I've mucked around this semester especially with attendance and was wondering if transferring was a plausible option. Like with a few late enrolments into 2 units I will have dropped 15/15 marks with one assignment or with another unit like 5/10 marks on a test etc. I know I'm smart and can come back strong from this easily with positive grades, it has just been a bumpy road to say the least!

Or you could just skip putting the reference in altogether

Anything not referenced is ignored. (at the best)

You need that much to be competitive - you could get an 80 WAM and still not get in (granted, I haven't heard a case of someone having over 80 and not getting in, so).

You are going to have to work your butt off, and right now your chances aren't looking good. You're going to have to work pretty fucking hard to pick up your marks:

1. Read your unit guides, and make sure you know when EVERYTHING is due. It's legitimately all there in one place, you should be able to see ahead as to what you have due, not rely on the lecturer telling you via moodle or lectures.
2. Attend your tutorials. Most units don't have attendance requirements on tutorials, but this is the place where you learn to apply the lecture material. It is legitimately more important than the actual lectures.
3. Be responsible. From what I can see, you have had a hard time adapting, and that's fine. But you know who the only person you can blame for that last assignment is? Yourself. I'm seeing a lot of excuses, but at the end of the day, you're the one who wasn't aware, and you're the one who didn't do their work. It's on you, and the quicker you can realise this, the quicker you can find motivation to get working. Are you going to let you be the reason you don't get to transfer?

If that's true, I'm kinda screwed. I mean, I've been using "facts" for my lab, but not referencing it because I didn't take it from anywhere specific. But because it's fact, does that mean I have to find a reference for it ?

NB: how long does it take for assignment marks to be released ? I think I asked this once but I forgot the answer haha

Seconded all of Euler's advice re: motivation + marks.

Nah, labs are different. :P Granted, scientific theory aren't "facts"... But, in general, if it's taught in the lectures, you don't need to reference it. If it's common knowledge from high school, you don't need to reference it either (unless they tell you to). If it's something you've pulled from the a research article, you better bet your butt that you should be referencing it.

Depends on the faculty it's for, the school the unit is with, and the tutor marking. :P I've had things take the whole semester to get back to me sometimes, and then gotten some things back the week after. Don't worry, you'll get it when you get it.

So am I right with regards to WAM? Is it 600(650)/800 marks I need over the year? It doesn't seem that hard! Unfortunately my unit coordinator and/or tutor haven't e-mailed me back but it is Easter weekend after all. I'm not totally sure how I'll approach this assignment but handing in nothing will at least get me some marks.

1. I'll make the effort to do this. I haven't read the unit guides yet, I just read about the assessments quite a while ago and this still happened. I should totally use my MSA calendar diary thing and become organised!
2. Good idea. Honestly the tutorials I have been to (or workshops) we've done literally SFA but I guess that general conversation about what we're learning is a good tool meant for consolidation of learning material.
3. Haha I tried to soften the blows with being pathetic but I downright know this is my fault. My units are not hard by any means and I know I'll come back :)

Since going to uni I have literally done nothing, I am finding it incredibly difficult to apply myself academically but I haven't really made the effort. I have tried to study 2/3 times in the library but starting is so damn hard especially when you think you're 8 miles behind! I don't question my abilities but I definitely know the source of my problems. Thank you. I totally just pictured like Monash's reckoning becoming Batman and just acing every exam lol :)

That pretty much made me comfortable in my current degree for the next three years :) Possible career path change due to failing an assignment woo. Little things do count.

For the JD? i'm quite good friends with someone who graduated from law/arts at monash and he was working a full-time job whilst juggling both degrees and he did VERY well and was picked up straight out of uni by a firm whilst running like Monash Overseas club or something. At the moment I'm doing literally nothing with life except socialising but I'm starting a job on Tuesday and beginning my first footy training session Tuesday week. I think if I have any chance whatsoever I just need a stable work/life/uni balance :) I'll just aim to get the best marks I can from now on and ride the waves out.

There is no way someone can work full time (9-5 five days) and complete arts/law full time. It's just so patently false. There aren't enough hours in the week once you add up work+contact hours+plus studying+sleep.

I'm currently working 24 hours a week and doing four Arts units. Can confirm it feels like drowning but when you have  some gills but an insufficient amount so basically the drowning is prolonged forever.

24 hours is a far cry from 38-40 though. When I worked full time completing my Comp Sci degree the only times I went into uni were to hand in assignments ><

Needless to say that was my worst semester
