It's impossible. For one thing, absolutely no law firm would hire a first year university student so to speak. Work experience or something similar, possibly. But a full time job ? Completely out of the question. As for another, there's no way said person would be able to achieve "multiple academic awards" with such shit attendance levels..he'd have absolutely no clue what was going on in the course. Not to mention law is a pretty heavy load too..
He was a legal assistant straight out of school with his 99.95. Nepotism could have been a factor in his employment but it doesn't change the fact he worked full-time. He constantly told me how busy he was when I would see him once a week. In SWOTVAC for his last semester of uni ever he was literally employed and worked a ridiculous amount. I don't really speak to him anymore because he's like 6 or so years older than me and has a life of his own but yeah.
He didn't attend lectures but he still watched them I'm assuming or at least read the power points. His work ethic was something to aspire to. With regards to academic awards, I don't really want to link his LinkedIn because that is a bit stalkerish but for example, he has 'Winner of the Witness Examination Competition sponsored by Herbert Smith Freehills' and 'Monash Law Scool Prize for International and Comparative Family Law' both achieved within a few months of each other alongside a dozen other awards … I don't know if these awards are good but yeah.
Argh guys I'm still struggling to find a job :S Like I haven't tried many places - the conventional ones. Should I start asking friends etc to help me get into a job or should I keep looking for jobs myself?
I have been accepted to work at McDonalds and start Tuesday. The only reason I am working there is for the hours as opposed to experience even though it is good experience. Before this, I was on Seek going to job interviews for anything that seemed prestigious without experience

I went for a job interview for a consultation job that required no experience yet everyone else was 25+ with like 3-4 years of experience in quite specific industries like advertising. I also went to a job interview for being a bartender because I thought it would be cool and fun but i doesn't seem as reliable for an income as working somewhere like McDonalds.
I think you should for the first 6-9 months try work at somewhere like Maccas. Then when you have experience under your belt, go and try work at a cafe or get a job through your parents if you can like a lot of lucky people.
