Does the Caulfield to Clayton shuttle bus get full easily ? And if any of you have used it , approx how long does it actually take ( website says 15-25 mins)? Cause I'm planning to use public transport till I get to Caulfield and then use the shuttle bus. Should I just use public transport completely ? Just trying  to think ahead. Thank you :)

Using PT to the shuttle bus and then taking the bus to Clayton is a great idea, I do it myself. I take the train to Caulfield and then to the bus. The shuttle normally takes 13-15 minutes during the day at off-peak times. And 20-30 minutes during peak times, with an average of 24-25 minutes during peak times (5-6pm). Keep in mind if you go to Clayton in the morning and from Clayton in the afternoon you are generally going against peak-hour traffic so it isn't so bad and the shuttle bus uses the express bus lanes.

To take the train from Caulfield-Clayton you need to get to Huntingdale station (17-18 minutes from Caulfield and then take the 601 bus 8-10 minutes to the Clayton bus loop, so the shuttle is definitely quicker.

The shuttle also has free wifi :D

The shuttle is normally 30-40% full during the day and gets pretty packed at peak times in the afternoon 4:30 till 6ish. Get there 5-10 minutes before the bus is scheduled and you will be guaranteed a seat though, it's only the stragglers that have to stand or wait for the next bus. When the bus is full it can be a bit uncomfortable but not that bad.

There is no way EITHER of them are that long, they're both almost certainly half that. The bus one may be accurate during mornings, but that train time is definitely not true.

hmm you're right, I just checked and it's ten minutes Caulfield-Huntingdale, shorter than I counted when I've taken it. Maybe I had a delay or something.

But I stand by my estimate for the bus, it's never taken less than 7-8 minutes for me.

So apparently it's coming out that the MSA spent 50k of monash student money on literally nothing.

I'm sure there's much more wastage than this.

I'm not surprised TBH. It seems like it was the PR company that took these student associations out on a Joy ride, and as far as the MSA is concerned they too had questions about accountability, it's just sad the company didnt do what they were paid to do and that's something for these organisations to investigate.

I'm sure this would happen with any of the stupol parties in power. Given that in those minutes Left Hook (a.k.a Socialist Alternative) were like 'yo give NUS the money, we need it more' it's all just about promoting your own wider party and policies. Those MSC minutes are a hoot though, like the most basic minutes on the planet.  I looked through the minutes of a MSC I rocked up to and I found this line

Any new students attending any of the Host Scheme Camps? I'll be on Camp #2 as a Host and will probably be visiting on the others as a part of MSA Activities and would love to meet you guys!

For those who aren't yet going but are considering it or straight up haven't heard of it, I'd highly recommend going as it's a great way to make some new friends and have a whole lot of fun. (who knows you might even get me as a parent :D)

Feel free to check out the info below if you're interested.

As a follow up to this did anyone attend Camp #2 or Camp #3? I was a parent for Blue and Gold families respectively and you likely met me if you were on either camp!

p.s. Camp #4 is this weekend and is looking to be a big one if anyone is keen on attending (Y)

anyone else volunteering for the MSA's askme program this year?
Indeed, although I was not at the training session as I had Enrolment commitments :)

Long shot but by any chance is anybody coming to the Student Professional Development Symposium for BusEco tomorrow or has come to it in previous years? Not too sure what to expect that's all!

Without a break? I think you'd be pretty dead either at the end, or more likely, during that workshop :P As someone who has had 3.5 hour tutes, concentration levels towards the end of that alone were a major struggle. If you have a 1hr break or so I think that's manageable :)

Do you study during those breaks? I suppose it depends on how long the break is...

If I had a one hour break between two three hour blocks I would not be studying :P

I usually didn't study during breaks, I get my best work done from 9pm to like 3am (I don't study for 6 hours, that's insane, just that anywhere in that timeframe is ideal for me!). Preferred to chat with mates for the sweet banter, or head down to Monash sport for some badminton or something (less commonly).
