is there any place where we can eat inside in caulfield campus? I had a class next to the postgraduate lounge in building H and i was wondering if they have a place like that for a first year?
Student lounge, Building S.
Caulfield green especially when it's sunny/good weather. Building H and the basement. I really miss the Camino cafe, it was a nice place to chill.

I definitely understand. I have uni going on, a job somewhere, tutor someone (i.e. my 2nd job, technically) and still try to fit usual daily shenanigans in there (you know, exercise, some form of a social life, etc.). My job is casual, so I have no idea until the last minute whether I can even go to uni on a certain day. Of course, that means I have to block that out. Unfortunately, even with the perfect timetable, I have to catch up with 2 lectures online minimum a week. So :( (I learn best when I'm at the lecture.)
All I know is that I'm going to be one exhausted cookie by the end of semester. /end mini-rant/

I sympathise with you Angel. Except I'm struggling to fit everyday normal stuff in my life right now. I wanted to take up swimming again but I'm not seeing how I can fit that into my schedule. As for having a social life, I'm only just starting to realize how little I can be bothered with people so I don't even care about that haha.

Whew on earth are you working ? Even with your job being casual, don't you get your rosters a bit in advance ? I've never heard of being called in that last minute, and even if you are, usually you can say no because it's so last minute.

I signed up for mentorship today and got an email asking me to tutor a student but she never called me back again so whatever. I'm making a promise to myself not to sign up for anything else this semester at least. Because like you, I am going to be seriously burned out by the time holidays come around.

As for having a social life
I don't really like being alone too often and I feel like education is so much better with friends so... I'm making an effort to avoid Loner City again, which you'd think would be super easy for a Science student... you're so wrong.

To avoid unnecessary advertising, I'll just say that it's a fairly new place (not many workers) and my job is partially based on online bookings. As a result, they don't bother to keep me on regular hours. Some people make bookings on the day, so that's where the last minute part comes from. Just take it from me, saying 'no' is not ideal. (When I said "certain day", I meant Thursday, but just didn't want to be specific. Those 2 lectures I miss on Thursdays are ones that were auto-allocated.)
As bad as that sounds, there are quite a number of hidden perks.

I'm making a promise to myself not to sign up for anything else this semester at least.
Hopefully that works out for the best.

I wasn't saying that you shouldn't have friends; just that I personally don't find it to be worth it anymore. That's all.

Hope things work out for you :)

I didn't think you were alluding to that at all, nor was I trying to... whoops. Just stating opinion. I should be more precise next time.   ::)

Thanks!  :)

And as bad as I feel, I'll take you up on that offer if you don't mind :')
Could I get a copy of that!? Cheers.

Here you go: http://bit.ly/MGC1010notes :))

I meant me personally. I'm not sure about the contact hours thing though. I've got 18 hours, how about you? How many do you all have?
I have 20.5 hours but I can safely say it's the best timetable I've had so far at uni (only one 8am start vs. at least 4 per week last year when I was overloading =.=)

No worries :)

Not management... which sort of goes against the whole idea that "doing Commerce along side Engineering will help you with management roles" haha

Even though I'm doing a double degree, I'm 99% sure that I can squeeze in both a Finance and Actuarial Studies major. But I need to double check this tomorrow when I go visit the buseco course advisors

Ooh...could you post up what they say? I'm interested in both Finance and Actuarial Science (or maybe Economics). I'm not sure what to major in. Two would great.

Monash Berwick to close in 2018.

Hope the shuttle bus never closes though. Greatest initiative by Monash, second to the bullshit we're-environmentally-friendly-so-we're-increasing-the-price-of-parking-permits bullshit. If Monash is having trouble engaging with the SE suburbs then they should consider keeping the shuttle bus as a means of transport.

In any case I'm pretty sure it's not the 'higher ATAR requirement of Monash excluding potential students in the south east' but the fact that they've cut down on degrees/majors offered and made them more generalised. I'm sure there's no shortage of students reaching the 'higher ATAR requirement' of Monash but choose to go to Deakin, RMIT or ACU because of the more specialised and variety of degrees offered.
Don't blame the SE suburbs for not coming to the Campus, blame yourselves Monash coz you sold yourselves out.
