How busy do the libraries get during SWOTVAC? Will you be able to find a spot to study anywhere or is it better off just attempting to study at home?

And I can't believe the semester is over already. It went by so quickly!

Oh and by the way, every lecturer I've worked with maintains a master spreadsheet with columns for lecture attendance, assignment results and exam results. You are kidding yourself if you think poor attendance is ignored.

Now of course you can still get 100 in a subject with no attendance requirements. That's great. But I can assure you when it comes to half marks/any form of leniency and tolerance for mistakes, you're toast.

Is this legit ? Not everyone learns best by turning up to lectures you know. It would be highly unethical, and not to mention completely unfair if this was the case.

I'm pretty sure he meant tutorial/workshop/laboratory attendance. It's understandable not everyone can attend lectures and I totally agree that its unfair. I have experienced this in a few subjects at La Trobe as well, but can't say the same for Monash (yet). In terms of the compulsory classes, I guess that's why hurdle requirements exist. But I do believe that as a university student you have an obligation to attend classes. If you don't, you're only failing yourself. I know that if I was put in a situation where a student was on 49 overall, and I had the option to give a few more marks to make it 50, I would do so for those who attended everything and tried as opposed to someone who missed a significant amount of classes (not taking into account special consideration of course, because situations like that definitely can't be prevented).

Given that your exam can only be marked by one of a few people that have the rights to do so, it isn't difficult to check a list of compiled names/numbers and the sum of their attended classes. I believe this is what MJRomeo was trying to state. We were simply stating our own personal experiences as tutors, it isn't something that we've said happens everywhere (because obviously it isn't....).

Definitely didn't intend on causing anything. That's all im going to say on this Let's move on.

For one of my units, the group assignments have a total weighting of 40%. My group was awful and screwed me over and it's really messed up my marks. I can't recover that much in the exam so is there anything else I can do ? I'm so annoyed about this.

Tell the unit coordinator/chief examiner. The worst they will do is not help you (and you wont be any *worse* off). The best that will happen is they will help you or bump your marks up. It's better if you have proof (say google docs showing you did most of the work) or another person from the group who also complains with you to corroborate it.

For the older students, campus has really changed lately, the carpark isn't even there, crazy!

My other honours project fell apart and that was a massive curve ball. I spent so long working on it and it got shot down by the hospital lawyers over patent issues. Absolutely gutted but now i got a new project to work on and just trying my best on that one. It's on the linkage between the contraceptive pill, hormones and depression.

What up my AN fam? It's been a while, I can see the exam blues settling in. Project kinda consumed my life just for a little bit, oops. But it's okay, because I gave a killer speech, then got to witness an academic tell me that one of my experiments was basically useless and all my results from it were useless. :') On the plus side, exams are actually looking super chill rn - only got 3, and they all only assess 8 weeks of content and run for 2 hours!

 Good old overloading and having 5 exams . It helps that a bunch of my subjects exams, namely ETC1000 and ATS2600, have really straightforward exams.

But did you ever have an exam that tested 4 years worth of content, was worth 20% of your degree, and was spot bang in the middle of 5 consecutive days of exams (ie. 4 OTHER exams too) a week after an 18 week semester?

I'd estimate three per semester. Certainly not as many as some, but still anxiety-provoking.

m8, wasn't trying to win any game - particularly considering I've found research reports to be waaaaay more difficult and anxiety-inducing to write. Was just surprised that Joseph had more than 2 exams a semester!

Quick question regarding graduation, if you're doing a double degree, will you graduate and be given two certificates or will your degrees all be merged into the one?
