The SSAF is defintiely going ahead so the uni will have the right to charge every student a fee up to about $270, i'm not sure if the final number has been confirmed as of yet but it's probably at least $200

Yep.  Because of federal laws that were passed not long ago, voluntary student unionism has been abolished and now compulsory student union membership is for all students: domestic and international.

So all students will have to pay that fee and it can be deferred if you are a domestic student, just like HECs.

Improved support to the union. Yes, it's important. No, BBQs and the Rowden White are not the only valuable things they do.

Much more money to go around.  They were thinking of combing the Advocacy service and make one unified advocacy service for undergraduates and postgraduates if I recall correctly?

So does that mean everyone will be technically be union members and get all the benefits?

No, not necessarily, certain benefits such as the gym and swimming pool etc may need more money to fund its services.

bullshit.

The Monash student union gets a budget of $5M~$6M. And they do shit all with it, other than maintain a shithouse 'member-only' library, fail to maintain a bookshop, and give out overpaid jobs for useless positions (a $200k manager position to manage a student newspaper that no one reads?)

If the UoM student union is anything like the Monash one (and from what I've heard it is), I will bet more money will be going into have more politics than more services. And fuck yeah we would love more politics.

I support the union because they do act on the behalf of the students, but less politics is always beneficial.

Yup, more debt :)
