SOOO I just turned 18, like an hour and 20 minutes ago, and my friend just tried hooking me up with some guy that she knows.
Is this what the rest of my single life is going to be like? How do I stop it/what do I do? What sort of awkward moments will I encounted and what do I do during them?
My friend is telling me all this stuff about how this guy and I are totaly suited to each other- how we have similar likes, and she's telling me about the 'future endeavours' I have with this dude and I'm just like 'I HAVENT MET THIS GUY YET AND YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT FUTURE ENDEAVOURS!!'

And this is what I told my friend:

First bit of advice, don't go for anyone you don't feel comfortable with.
Second bit, find your own partner, don't rely on friends.

Third bit of advice, talk to Water, his a catch with the ladies.

at least your friends aren't contemplating on starting a 'predictive baby' business.
i know someone who makes ridiculous prognostics on what my children would be like if i had them with different guys from our social group.
our typical conversation would go something along like this:
'your baby would be so good at art AND science if you have it with x. and he is also good at maths, so your baby would be an all-rounder. he's a bit short but you could pull the average up with your height. but your kid will still be quite short.'

At Yale we have these things called "screws". They're these dances where you HAVE to get paired with a blind date - there's one for freshmen, and then every residential college hosts one each year. Matchmaking galore...
