I've never been a fan of checkpoints, but does anyone recommend them? I'm going to the bookstore tomorrow and I'm thinking of getting neap and some A+ notes. Anyone have other suggestions?

if your using a textbook other than heinemann, purchase the heinemann textbook, comparatively it is a much much better book than the others avaliable.

I thought the notes were really good revision. The questions aren't great, but the notes were nice and concise.

Chemistry checkpoints is miles better than the maths checkpoints, there are actually quite a few original questions (the maths ones are all out of past VCAA papers) and the solutions are far more reliable. However, I don't think you should waste your money on brand new checkpoints, get second-hand copies from between 2008 and 2010 - all that is added to newer ones is the previous year's VCAA exam, which you're better off not looking at until you're doing final revision before the exam.

I've got a copy of 2009 chem unit 4 checkpoints for sale, $10. PM me if you're interested. I'm not sure where the unit 3 one is, but if I find it, you can have both for $20.
I won the GAT: 49/50/50.

I have a copy of the Neap Advantage book (only unit 4 though, the unit 3 book is coming out somewhere in March i think) to which it summarises the key concepts in Unit 4 as well as providing three practice exams. I believe that it would be the same for Unit 3 as well.

Personally, i found the A+ notes, Checkpoints, and Neap Smartstudy guides an excellent way to prepare for Chemistry, Psychology and the other sciences (I heard this from other people, so they found these study guides also helpful for Biology and Physics), as they provide a wide range of differing questions, so if you do the lot of them, you'll know you'll be likely to be prepared for any question that comes up in a sac or exam
