Great Leap Forward

Dear Comrades fellow ANers,

We have been planning some changes over the past week(s) to the forum. Over the next week(s), we will be incrementally rolling out these changes. Some boards will be moved, merged, archived or removed. We hope to implement a more logical way of organising the content, but it does mean it will change the way you browse the forums.

Whilst there are no planned code modifications, we do not know if any of the forum features will break (e.g. the attachments feature has always been troublesome when it comes to change). If you notice any bugs/problems, please post in Great Leap Forward - Bug reporting [CURRENT]

The main changes are:

• Restructure of the 'National Forums' to 'National Education Forums', which will contain all general education discussion boards (such as 'General VCE Discussions' and 'Technical ATAR Discussions').
• New rules will be introduced. We have updated the policy on warnings and bans. We also recognise that different boards have different purposes, and will thus be introducing per-board posting guidelines for popular boards, which are rules specifically tailored for each board. We will post them to you in the form of little red books. These will be stickied in the boards as they become finalized.
• Public Recycle Bin, which has already been implemented, will contain threads which do not follow the posting guidelines (and other threads such as redirects). This is located in the Archive section at the bottom of the forum. Follow the rules and posting guidelines so your thread doesn't end up here!
• A list of current moderators and their positions will be posted for better transparency.
• Subject boards for different states will be merged to help promote users from other states to post, let our Victorian students to help fellow interstate students, and in general promote interstate interactions. This is pending some code developments. This will of course introduce its own set of problems, and we'll be developing strategies to overcome these in the near future.
• There is now a one-post policy.

There are several other small changes, most of them are rather administrative.

If you have more suggestions, please feel free to post in Great Leap Forward - Support and Feedback [CURRENT] or pm myself or another mod. We will give all suggestions serious consideration.

A detailed list of changes will be added as we implement them. Watch this space.

State categories for universities have been removed; they are now grouped under the forum Universities in alphabetical order.

I've moved all the general threads that were under Victoria to General University Discussion and Queries. General questions not specific to a university should go there from now.
