50±50%

It depends on your academic ability and interview so there's essentially no way to tell. I suppose I can say that you've got a ~25% chance of getting into a medical course at grad entry, based on the numbers of applicants and numbers of places. There was also some data from the MD that suggested approximately 33% of current students are BBiomed grads, but that number is almost certainly lower this year and in future years.

I am loving every minute at Melbourne,

Did you drink the kool-aid?

Haha, I swear!  Beneath all of the whinging, I actually enjoy my time at uni. :)

In terms of getting into the MD program at Melbourne Uni after doing a Bachelor of Biomed at Melbourne, what are your chances?

Hard to say...but it is getting more and more competitive every year.  You basically need to do well on GAMSAT, get a good GPA and perform well at an interview.

From a statistical point of view, I dunno. Otherwise, depends on your grades and GAMSAT etc.

In my personal opinion, it might be slightly easier to get in at a graduate entry level as compared with the undergraduate level based on a few reasons

The concrete reasons:
1) You can take Honours, Masters and further education to increase your GPA
2) You have many opportunities to sit the GAMSAT
3) You can quite literally apply an unlimited number of times

The more subjective reasons:
1) Many good students are eliminated at the Undergraduate level, many of them will go into Medicine, others into other courses such as Dent/Law/Eng/Comm...etc. - Eliminates competition
2) You'd be much more experienced at Graduate Level - you would have had more time to undertake work experience...etc. to improve interview prospects

That makes so much sense. I've never thought of it in this way. In terms of time-line, do you know what it would be like in comparison to MBBS undergrad?
Aspiring doctor. Why? For the same four reasons as everybody else. Chicks, money, power and chicks.

Well it's 3 years for your Science/BioMed degree (4 years if you want Honours) + 4 years for your MD (Melbourne) or MBBS (Deakin/Monash)
It's 7 or 8 years in total, which isn't too bad I guess, especially for Melbourne's MD program

Then you have internship, residency and fellowship training, that's another 6-7 years on top, but then you'll be a practising physician/surgeon/GP...etc.

I believe post grad options are the same for both MBBS and MD (or post grad MBBS for that matter--though I could be wrong).

In terms of undergrad MBBS timeline vs post grad timeline, it would look something like:

undergrad:

- 2-3 years of preclinical science
- 2-3 years of clinicals

(for a total of at least 4.5-5 years I believe)

post grad:

- 2+ years of an undergrad degree (usually 3-4)
- optional further study
- postgrad medicine, usually consisting of:
   - 1-2 years preclinical science
   - 2-3 years clinicals (total of usually 4 or maybe 4.5 years)

So as paulsterio said, you're looking at 5-6 years of MBBS vs usually 7-8 years of post grad entry.

According to my GPA-year level correlation, if I attempted to do masters I would probably fail it.

Doing Honours/Masters is a risk right, because your GPA could drop?

Definitely. But it can be a good idea if you need to bring your GPA up.
