Hey odette. Yesterday and today I have been doing my Business Management homework (which includes writing up notes [handwritten]) Thanks for the notes I got off you. I go through the exercise and then use both the text book and the your notes to help me summarise.

Really appreciate it!!!

costargh, ensure you add examples and definitions to your notes. Examples and definitions are as just as good as concepts.

Try as much as possible, for 'example', to explain the concept in terms of the stimulus/case study material. If you take a look at practice questions/past papers, you'll see what I mean. If there is no stimulus/case study, provide a general example about an Australian business.

WOW. Business homework already! You're definately giving yourself the best chance to do well.

I think I just summarised the first three chapters as holiday homework. I never went overboard with business homework and I still managed a 43.  :)

Woah you're gonna gun bus man then.

This is school set stuff. Doing the questions, glossary, reading, taking notes.
But I know everyone will just do the reading and questions and most... and a few will do glossary too and a handful will do notes. I havent done BusMan before so I am really trying to nail it from the beginning.  I have a very good general knowledge of the business world (ie. what is happening around the world, nationally and locally) particularly because I read the Business section of the age everyday (lol don't laugh) and yeh I guess I'll have to get into the habit of adding that to my answers (what I know about the businesses). Some questions specifically ask for you to relate the question to a business I have found. Like Operating Environment factors relating to a business (I chose to do David Jones).

I'd appreciate if someone could show me a sample answer to a question so I get the jist of how you are supposed to answer a BusMan question as I am very sure it would be differnt to a Legal Studies Question.

Alright I'll give it a go lol... here's one question i did on a trial exam and i got full marks for :)
Identify and explain two management skills that could be used by Mr Gomm to implement the strategic
plan.
[VCAA EXAM 2006]
Two management skills that could be used by Mr Gomm to implement the strategic plan are communication and delegation.
Communication involves a two way process of receiving and giving information. If Mr Gomm is able to communicate the new vision of the company, and explain to employees why the change is occurring as well as the benefits of this change, employees are less likely to restrain from the change. Delegation is the passing of tasks from management to the subordinates. By delegating tasks, employees will feel as though they can help implement the change and that they are part of the change and therefore will be less likely to oppose the change.

Or something along those lines lol ...

Wow that was really good. I can see from our response that you have a very structured style of writing. How many marks was that?
