ps. the answer in the sac was

If that was the answer was the question instead of , the first one will give the answer with the negative in it? Which would also explain why bazza thought I had my u and v the other way round?

EDIT: wait, that swaps the powers of x+1 and x-1 aswell...

It looks right, I did it my way and got the same answer as Somye, the thing that is different from that is that its not , but instead which may be why we were having the problems before.

EDIT: bad wording, fixed

The CAS can't always give the most simplified form.

nah i know that

but my answer (and cas when simplified) had (1+x) ^ 3/2
instead of just (1+x)

Sort of confused about what you guys are trying to get at with this :P

But if you're answer had (1+x)3/2 in the denominator then maybe you had   ? (not sure if you already knew this or?  ::))

OH
Wow
jeez i'm dumb
fml
so i would get full marks for that question
but in the next one i sort of skirted over the fact the derivative i got wasn't what i expected (worked backwards essentially), so may lose 1 there
