I wouldn't say Melbourne is best and Monash is second best, it depends on a lot of factors

Now, when you say 3rd best, can you be ,ore specific, best in terms of what? what faculty/areas are you looking at? do you define best in terms of coursework/lecturers and academics? do you like a good atmosphere? what facilities are you after? does the campus and location matter to you?...etc

Such as all the rankings that put them that way?

*innocentface*

And i'd put Deakin at third. Maybe LaTrobe, but I think Deakin

Yeah true...agree with swarley but ANU is first, Melborune Uni(rank almost the same as sydney uni) is second, Monash is Third, Latrobe is fourth, RMIT is fifth.

Probably Deakin, but each uni has some really good, high quality courses and teachers (eg. Criminal law at VU apparently, engineering at RMIT, design at Swinburn)

On the UoM website, it seems Uni of Melb has overtaken ANU for 1st place in Aus!
Also just puttin it out there, i heard Uni of Melb is ranked 15th IN THE WORLD for its Medicine degree. Whoa's.

Yeah, every course/faculty have different ranking (melbourne uni is biomedicine)and the one you see might be some website as though there are many different website showing the many different ranking. So I guess it's not completely right, it's just for reference. :)

Times Higher Education is the standard and as it goes, UoM has been above ANU for a while now. As an undergraduate it probably won't make a whole lot of difference to you.

If you go by world rankings (times higher education or QS) usually Deakin is ranked third but it really depends on what course you wish to do. Although some universities may be ranked higher as a whole, that doesn't mean that the course you want to do is better there.

Lol, there are so many ranking and some are different..so which one are more accurate?

http://www.australian-universities.com/rankings/
http://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings/world-university-rankings/2011
http://www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/world-university-rankings/2011-2012/top-400.html

Basically as long as you can get in the course you desire, it's more than the best uni.(my opinion)
Yeah, Bazza16..
