but people seem to be so afraid of over predicting they under predict drastically...

I predicted a 50/49 at varying stages and i guess this, though accurate (and unfairly, but understandably due to social norms), can easily be perceived as cocky

How many times do I have to stress that an honest prediction is not a cocky prediction. You're only cocky if you use your predictions (or scores) to put others down. I would hate a society where I can't be honest because I'm afraid other people will call me cocky. Anyone in this situation will know what I'm talking about, Bazza16 would know for sure

Would you mind explaining how it's cocky, hala_madrid? has his (Bazza16's) prediction harmed you in any way? has it made you feel bad?

He was right about spesh... I think we've learnt from thushan's UMAT and ATAR predictions that he is not to be trusted in this department (which I think is better than over-predicting btw).

In regards to his ATAR, he was right about Spesh and Chem, I seriously don't know why he would predict that he would get 35 for English Language, that was a little uncalled for :P (Explain yourself Thushan!! :P)

sigh, why is predicting a score i believe i will (and did) recieve cocky? please explain

It's not cocky, just be honest and ignore what everyone else says, as long as you're not putting other people down, it's fine, only those who are jealous would call it cocky

look sorry guys, this isn't personal or anything, sorry if it has come off as such. im just saying vce is a very stressful time, and very few people legitimately believe they will get high 40's or a 50. so it is a natural human reaction to be frustrated whenever someone parades the fact that they are hoping to get a perfect score. but in all seriousness, congrats on the result - to actually achieve that for biology is a tremendous achievement

lol this too, no need to take it so seriously aha

There is no way I would ever repeat year 12. Maybe I'd do one subject at TAFE, but I never want to go back to being surrounded by immature high schoolers all the time.

Guys, its not called being 'cocky', i call it 'justified confidence' ;)
It's a  nice comeback, use it next time, they cant say anything because well you achieved what you said youd do.
But paulsterio's right, as soon as someone starts denigrating others, its defs cocky and they should gtfo

You can be arrogant without putting others down, I don't know why you're conflating the two. Anyway, Australia pretty much invented tall poppy syndrome, so I generally find humility to be the best pathway.

Hah, thought I would have to until I got >90, but even if i got in the 80s, 70s, I wouldn't do it. I mean half the time it's not worth it, my dad repeated year 12 and he did worse than his first time doing it lmao. And it's also hilarious he failed italian when his parents were italian born. But aside from that, you may as well do a tafe program or whatever, e.g. at rmit or something, which even though it sometimes get a bad rep, is a decent uni, and you can get in 2nd year. In addition, why would you want to be behind 1 year in uni?
