I would say, don't let VCE get in the way of this.

I was practically in a relationship for most of VCE.

If you're both comfortable and confident that it won't adversely affect your study then why not. A friend of mine and his girlfriend both achieved 99.95 this year so it's definitely possible to still do well.

Hmmm, well, i actually wasn't dating anyone during my vce years, but fell in love witha  person, and also essentially planned my life around him. BUT! saying that, we were both into our stuides, and both got 99+. and i told him how i on the weekend and even went into my jap exam the next day, after he said his true feelings too. well, in short he rejected me, it hurt, but then you realise that the world keeps going. i mean, i don;t see anything wrong if it if you are mature enough to balance your life properly. i mean, my friend had a gf, and he got a score of 99+ too. i mean, as long as you know what is important both in the present and the future, i seriously don;t think it matters.

i mean, to be able to focus on study constantly is a luxury. many people that work have to keep their performance on the job and deal with life issues, and families etc. so basically, in short, if you are mature enough to organize everything and deal with the pressures of study and life, then having a gf/bf or not shouldnl;t really matter during vce.

Personal opinion but i think its fine to have a partner. There is more to life than studying so a partner can be a great way to spend free time.

High school is a great time to have fun...it's not just about studying. Making new friends, having a partner and enjoying social experiences are all part of being a rounded individual.

In fact, you can probably burn out if you simply dedicate your life to study.

It's an excuse to get out ;)

What are people's thoughts on having gfs/bfs during Year 12? Distraction?

If you've done Year 12, did you have gf/bf and if so, what enter score did you get?  :D
I did year 12 last year got 99.15 enter, and i had a gf, she wasn't in year12 i always wagged for her too.
So I don't think bf/gf will affect your study.

I had a girlfriend, we broke up ages ago though (we weren't together for that long) :P
She was a bit younger than me...

And I don't see myself in any relationships in the near future :P

Just don't go breaking up 1 day before the start of exams...
Lolz, funny you mention that, because something did happen for me the day before the English exam (don't ask, I won't tell you :P)
lol now I know why you got 23 in English :P

relationships affect your study depending on how sucked in you are by love, softcocks are easily sucked in.
