In your own opinion, what do you reckon is a  good score?

Depends in what context. At my school, 90 is considered epic, while on here, 99 is considered good hahaha
2010: Business Management [47]
2011: English [44]   |   Chemistry [45]  |   Methods [44]   |   Specialist [42]   |   MUEP Chemistry [5.0]   |   ATAR: 99.60
UMAT: 69 | 56 | 82 | = [69 / 98th Percentile]

Might also depend on how your subjects are scaled...

I think any ATAR is good as long as the student has worked hard throughout his or her Year 12 (sorry for being so vague).
I always look a little lost.

+1 to this
An 80+ at my school is considered good, a 90+ is considered awesome and usually only 1 person per year scores a 95+.
2012 ATAR - 86.75
2013 ATAR - 88.50
2014: BSci (Statistics) at RMIT
2015 - 2017: BCom at UoM

65+ is decent
70+ is respectable
80 + is congratulatory
90+ is impressive
95 + YOU ARE ON GOD TIER

After all, 80 means you've made the top 20% of all students in your graduating vce year.
I know for some, that's pretty 'low', but as an overall thing, it's a good place to be.

ATAR is essentially a tertiary entry score, so it depends what you're aiming for.
When you put it in perspective and think of the mathematics involved (I know it's over but hang in with me here), it essentially means that roughly only 20% of the thousands of courses offered will even have a median of 80 as an entry ATAR. Then there's leniancy of one or two marks and demand in that year...

In short, average marks are okay and not life ending.
Above average marks opens doors.
Superhuman marks get you exactly where you want to be.

It's more about making things accessible for yourself than the actual score number.

Yeah, what I mean is that it puts it in concrete. Like, if you work hard, it's more definite.
I certainly agree that following the score that will get you where you want to be is a good idea - I'm looking at 70 + myself.

I mean, if I was as certain as I was about my first preference in year 10 as I am now... I probably would have left school, done the tafe lead-in course and been guaranteed a place... but here we are.

I wish everyone the best :3

The ATAR you want will depend on your course.

For example somebody wanting to do say information technology at La Trobe may only need a 55+ where a med student at Monash may need 99.50+ (if I'm not accurate don't kill me), but if both get over their intended "clear in" scores then both will be happy.

You shouldn't really care if someone gets a higher score, I'm only aiming for an 80+ (which seems difficult to me to be honest) but my second preference is a 50+, and a similar course, so I'm not really worried. :)

Besides, if you have planned correctly throughout the year you should be able to get into your course and if not there are always back doors to your courses. ;)

Saying that, I hope everyone achieves the score they desire tomorrow, and remember the hard work you put in will work off.
Best of Luck!

At my school everybody wants 96+. I'm being serious, anything under and people are like "have fun at deakin". But honestly I think your ATAR is good as long as it gets you into the course you want :)

There is no answer to this question.
I do not even believe that the ATAR reflects your intelligence.
The ATAR you get reflects the amount of work you have put into your preparation.
