Yeah that's him.

In year 12:

English: 50
Classical Greek: 48
Latin: 47
Specialist Mathematics: 45

Not sure about year 11, but those 4 alone would have given him an aggregate of ~210 (enough for 99.95)

But just because no-one got a 50 in Latin this year doesn't mean it's impossible does it? I'm quite sure it's been done before

(Btw, Peter Willis got 50 in Classical Greek a few years ago)

There hasn't been a 50 in Latin in at least about seven years. Typically the highest score has been 47 - this year was unusual in that regard.
VCE 2010-2011:
English | Philosophy | Latin | Chemistry | Physics | Methods | UMEP Philosophy
ATAR: 99.95

2012-2014: BSc (Chemistry/Philosophy) @ UniMelb

Currently taking students for summer chemistry and physics tutoring! PM for details.

Change French to Hebrew.

Hebrew (50) --> 5.5

what was it this year, a 49, 48 and a few 47 if i remember correctly? But it's still all about the SD, if you've done well enough a 50 is not impossible

49, 48 and two 46s.

I'm just not sure there's ever enough people doing the subject these for a 50 to be achieved... Maybe one day!

You don't just need more people doing it for a 50 to be achieved, you want to increase the standard deviation, this can only really be done by either increasing the number of really really good people who are just remarkably better than the competition (in which case they will get a 50) or increasing the number of really really dud people doing the subject, in which case those with 49s and 48s now will probably end up with a 50, but that also drags down the mean, so reduces scaling

I think the issue is probably that the mean is just way too high, I think the mean is like a 45.00 (from the scaling report)

Uh uh, he's talking about RAW not scaled scores. For raw scores mean and SD stay at 30 and 7.
