I'm still unsure exactly what happens if you get 99.90 or 99.95 at melbourne Uni
Generally (for most subs excluding med)
- Do you get guaranteed post grad place regardless of grades achieved in subjects and GAMSAT etc.?
- Do you get a scholarship place or simply a guaranteed HECS place
For medicine in particular (above two questions apply, but with):
- If you still have to sit the interview, what advantage is there in getting 99.90 / 99.95, is it easier to get in?
- Are you immediately informed of secured post grad spot (before undergrad)?
- Can you resit the interview (i.e. before and straight after undergrad?)
Thankyou
What do you mean by scholarship and HECS place? Do you mean CSP? If you get 99.90+, you are guaranteed a CSP place. The only 'scholarhip' places I am aware of is the MRBS, which is a scholarship but you are also bonded (meaning you have to work in a rural location for 6 years after you graduate, so not many people would want this anyway).
I believe under the new scheme, GPA does not matter (which seems a bit weird because what if you failed like half your subjects?) So I'm not too sure on this either. And yes, you do NOT need to sit GAMSAT. Sitting it does not make you more competitive, because you are already guaranteed.
The only catch is you have to pass the interview, but according to my friend who went and asked the director of MD (not sure of his exact title), this interview is just a communication check. That means it's NOT a competitive interview, but rather to make sure you're actually capable of speaking

So to answer another of your questions, yes you are pretty literally 'guaranteed' to get in. Not sure about resitting the interview but I highly doubt you are allowed to do that.
