4% rise per year. It's currently $53k a year. You have a minimum of 5 years before you start, so it'd be closer to $65k a year when you start

Are there scholarships for MD students?

If I had a 7.0 GPA would I get one?

Sorry, didn't understand you so well. If I had a 7.0 GPA, would I get a scholarship? Also, with a 7.0 GPA what kind of GAMSAT ranking would I need for an interview (percentage wise) and what kind of GAMSAT with 6.85 GPA, this was my brother's GPA.

I couldn't find any scholarships for the MD that were entirely merit-based.

Funkyducky, of course try for the CSP, but don't let money get in the way of taking a FFP place! If medicine is really what you want to do, money won't matter - you will find a way to pay the fee. Please don't miss out on your chance at medicine just because of this!!! :)

Look, no offence pal, but you're in year 10 and I'm not sure you understand that for some people $250,000 is an amount they can afford.

My big brother was offered a FFP and parents took out a second mortage to help him. It's not possible to take  FFP without rich/helping parents.

Fair enough. I just hope for Funkyducky's sake that money doesn't end up making her dream impossible or extremely difficult to obtain. (Also I didn't know there was that much difference between CSP and FFP  :P)

I mean it wouldn't be solely because of the GPA, it would also be because you met criteria X as well.

With a 7.0 GPA, to interview at UoM you'd probably need top 25% on the GAMSAT. Maybe a bit lower but bear in mind that just scraping an interview puts you at a big disadvantage in the post interview ranking. With 6.85, maybe top 15%? Those are very rough guesses though, there's no way to say exactly.

Also...why not ask your brother? Is he a UoM student?

7 GPA is really difficult as you have the stress of transitioning from high school to uni, then you might screw up your breath subject, and be distracted by girls, high paying casual jobs, parties etc.

Ah yes, that is exactly what I was sure on until people started suggesting you didn't need to do the GAMSAT. We shall see though.

Apologies for the delayed reply.  It took Carl a while to get back to me.  I think he was unsure, and must have had to consult with admissions staff.

If you haven’t made the initial cutoff for a standard applicant, you will only be interviewed for your guaranteed place. Your standard application would be considered by all other preferenced universities, and you may receive an interview and be considered by one of these universities as well as being interviewed for your guaranteed place.

Regards

Carl

This is different to what he told me earlier last year, however it has now been cleared up.  Sorry if I caused any confusion.
