UoM Bachelor of Biomedicine in 2 years rather than 3?

I've heard some talk that it's possible to do BBiomed at Melbourne in 2 years instead of 3. I rang up the student advisor at melbourne and she said it is only possible in 2.5 years, and that they only allow you to accelerate if you have a substantial reason to do so. I was fortunate enough to be accepted into the guaranteed pathway into the MD, so I thought acceleration would allow me to graduate in 6 years' time, catching up one year with those in undergrad medicine. however, i'm not sure if this is a "substantial" reason.

I'm wondering whether this is actually possible and whether the contact hours are doable. any other advice would also be great!! :)

There's no midyear intake to MD so you wouldn't be able to finish in 6 years anyway.

Dont think so. Think if u do 2.5 years that's half a year waiting doing nthing coz of the course structure i think...
The courses are  highly integrated so im thinking doing it in 2 years is very very very hard...

You'd have to do 6 subjects a semester. Esp given that many of them are prerequisites, dnt think its possible...

2 years is not possible unless you somehow did uni bio and uni chem (for credit). This is because you need to have done first year subjects to do 2nd year prereqs for your 3rd year major. The subjects are always sequenced (ie you have to do sem 1 and sem 2), unlike some courses where you could potentially do both subjects in sem 1 etc.

Istafa, yes but only in certain cases. For example, if you have done uni chem you could (i think) major in chem in 2 years. Proabbly same with bio, and you can do this with maths if you have done spesh.

edit: actually i'm not entirely sure about maths anymore, they have tightened the prereqs since I did it

Thanks man. Sounds like I'll be doing Biomed for 3 years. I'll ask them anyway, just in case. BTW, r u already in MD? If so, congrats!  :)

Yes, they have...  Very much so.  The only exception is if you are a AN member called TrueTears or are better than him, which I am yet still to find.

^ Care to elaborate? What kind of 'shortcuts' did TT take?

Don't think he took shortcuts.  He's at Monash though.  I was referring to TT because of his Chuck Norris-like aptitude at mathematics.

And I believe you would fit in that category as well...  Group Theory in first year.  :O  So baws

The 'shortcuts' TT takes is that he pulls off a 'TT' even during uni.
