Start off by reading all the posts applicable to you in this thread: English Guides, Sample Pieces, Tips and Resources

Then head to the notes section, found here: http://www.atarnotes.com/?p=notes&search=&subject=English&units=MyY0

Once you've had a read of all that, I'll help you find other resources if you need ;)

Read all your texts for sure. I would also recommend doing at least 4 LAs too, because I feel they are often forgotten closer to exam time :)

Start looking over all sections of the course, read/watch all your texts and get writing! Do a couple of language analyses, and experiment with a couple of essay structures or styles - try analysing chronologically, analysing in order of arguments, grouping similar techniques or you may decide that you won't even explicitly mention 'persuasive techniques'. Start to work on your writing style and flair. Also use this downtime to collect as many resources, tips and notes as you can - you will not want to waste time doing this later on in the year. :)

I'd start off reading the texts and re-reading them a couple times. Then, make notes on each text-character summaries, themes and ideas represented in the book, how the author explores these ideas through use of their characters, setting and any symbolic objects, etc
After this, learn/revise how to structure each type of essay and practice writing them. You'll want to take advantage of this free time by mastering how to write essays and improve in terms of vocabulary, sentence structure and the complexity of your ideas.
Bleh.

I think people learn well by reading what good writers write and identifying what works and what flows

Personally, I'm going to read my texts atleast twice, especially with a focus on my content aswell as get back into English tutoring to help with the structure and consistency of my work.

I'm doing literature next year which is pretty similar, so I'll tell you what I'm going to be doing in the holidays:
- Read the texts "Emma" and "Hamlet"
- Write a chapter summary and character summary for both
- Start writing practice essays

Nothing more I can say I got a english mentor :).

I just do two-computer typed essays a week, text response (On The Waterfront) and LA (Andrew bolt articles).

Send it to my tutor, and I get feedback on how to do it better :P

LA (Andrew bolt articles).

I would focus on a broader range if I were you, Andrew Bolt articles tend to be very easy, as he usually attacks fairly powerfully and obviously, so there is lots to analyse there. For example, I'd say the VCAA 2011 exam "blog" was the complete opposite of an Andrew Bolt article.

They're not bad to use to begin with, but just don't get too used to them :)

Orly?
Well I'm going to do the same as you but instead of wasting valuable money on a tutor, I'll simply post my essays in the "English work submission and marking" section of AN  ;D
