Reading all of your texts and writing a few practice essays sounds good. Just make sure that you read the texts for fun, not for analysis. Soak up the emotion and action in the book instead of focusing on themes, messages and quotes. Perhaps subconsciously, you'll be picking up on so many great ideas to bring up in your writing.
Once you've finished reading, see if you can remember all of the characters in the book. Then, try and think of what life was like for each character. Think of what motivates the character, how does he/she act in the book, and what happens to this character by the end.
Also, head to the notes and sample pieces section of AN and search for your texts.
Finally, read and re-read the VCAA assessment reports at:
http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/vce/studies/english/englishexams.html Ensure that you comb through these reports as far as 2008 if you can, because examiners are stating exactly what they're looking for. If you give the examiners what they want, I'm sure they'll be kind to you.
