There's a place called the Good Samaritan Inn. My school always talks about helping out there but I'n not sure where it's located :/

well i know it's quite far but the craig centre in ashburton seems to fit all your wishes, it's non for profit, non admin etc. They take trips to places on a Saturday once a month i think, sometimes into the city, maybe you could just help out with these?

There's probably more suitable places around your area but i don't know about them personally

Mmm that looks okay but would be really difficult to get to. Thanks for the idea.

Vested interests but thanks anyway :)

suggest you have a look at http://www.sailprogram.org.au/site/
your role will be mentoring sudanese refugees (adults + children) and reinforcing their confidence/abilities in english
i think they have a centre somewhere in dandenong + few other areas in melbourne
you should probably phone them, i contacted them a week ago via email and got no reply
(go figure, can't even get a volunteer job LOL!)

Just curious, but is this purely to help out or are you looking to add this to your resume for employment opportunities?

You can make Connect Ed partially volunteer by scouting out disadvantaged schools/students etc and running lectures for them.

I'm affiliated with Embrace Education (though currently inactive, will get back on it semester 1), they run homework clubs, free tutoring for disadvantaged students etc.
vce: english, methods, spesh, chemistry, physics, geography.

enwiabe did AIME for a while. They seem to be quite a good organisation. You go to disadvantaged schools and basically help out the kids who are struggling. They're usually in need of people. The only downside is that the schools are usually in woop woop

Amnesty International Australia is always sending me emails about volunteer opportunities available. You could sign up to their mailing list.
