China Bar Buffet

So I went today for the first time...
Eh it was pretty disappointing
I guess I expected the food to be, like, amazing since everyone raves about it.
But it was just average I reckon. Definitely not worth the ridiculous price ...
Idk, maybe it's just me ... but yeah, have a lot of you guys been? What do you think?

A kid from my school's Dad owns it. Overpriced and mediocre. There's heaps of better places out there.

I can only think of Foodstar at
Knox (IMO).

Isn't it owned by several people?

Anyway IMO, its good if your with friends and only pay for yourself. But if your with like a family of 4-5 and your parents pay it all then its too pricey and you can defs eat better food with that price.

I have found two excellent chinese places in the city:

http://hutong.com.au/ <-- the absolute top spectrum of Chinese food in Melbourne.

http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/71/1488409/restaurant/CBD/Sichuan-House-Melbourne <-- if you want something spicy.

Both are a bit more pricey than 'China Bar' and other similar restaurants. Expect to pay ~40/head.

hutong! how/why could anyone be obsessed with china bar...its just all you can eat average asian food. I mean if you were going to a buffet why go for asian food at all >_>

eh pretty average food though the highlights for me were the Peking duck rolls, tempura vegetables, dumplings and some of the soups but it wasn't as dazzling as I thought it'd be

on a random side note, my friend quit her job as a waitress after 2 days there from being "worked like a dog" with only earning $8/hr (pretty bad for 18 yo wages...) and apparently the staff cracked the shits at her after she dropped a plate so she threw in the towel :\

There was this really good buffet place in Crown called Suntaste but i think it closed down...?
Was pretty cheap too. $19 per person or something?

Only the dessert is good in Kitchen Workshop imo. The other stuff there sucks!
