For non-arts students entry to the diploma requires the approval of your home faculty or home university. Students admitted into the diploma negotiate a suitable program of study in consultation with their home faculty, and the relevant language discipline. You should discuss your application with your home faculty and seek approval before lodging the application form.
Get approval, then go to the arts office in the Menzies building, they'll probably have a form for you to fill out
2) Languages generally have a semi-high workload. Depending on the language you choose, it will probably have many small assessments scattered throughout the semester all worth 5% or 10% of your mark, so you can't afford to slack off and then cram for the exam
3) It should be covered by HECS or HELP or whatever the heck it's called nowadays
4) No you'd just start and finish at a higher level, you still need to do 48 credits worth of subjects (i.e. equivalent to an arts degree major)
