i need help with stating the largest possible domian(maximal domain)and range for a function , if im given a rule . I dont know how to do that. can anyone please tell me the steps involved for any function .

The maximal domain is the largest domain for which the function is defined, for example, the function y = x^2 has the maximal domain R, whereas the function y = sqrt(x) has maximal domain [0,infinity)

The maximal range is (similarly) the largest range, so for y = x^2, the maximal range is [0, infinity) and for the circle x^2 + y^2 = 25, the maximal range would be [-5,5]

When in doubt, draw a graph :)
