Transferring to Melbourne?

I want to transfer to Melbourne after one semester of study at a different university, is this still possible even with a very low ATAR? I have all HDs from the one semester of uni but my ATAR isn't even close to the clearly in. When I asked the admission's staff they wouldn't tell me how much they weighted ATAR compared to GPA, if it all, so I have no idea if I'm likely to get in or not.

Also on the section regarding "exemptions" they said they have an agreement with the other Go8 universities to credit their subjects, does this mean they are reluctant to credit studies from a non-Go8 university?

Also how can I meet the pre-requisite of Methods 3/4? The subject that Melbourne offers as an equivalent has a pre-requisite itself of Methods 1/2, is it possible to get this waived?

There is a possibility of a transfer.  But with only a semester of tertiary study, your ATAR will most likely be more weighted in the selection process.

Not necessarily.  They might not give you full credit for the subjects you've completed, but you may still receive partial credit for it.

Also how can I meet the pre-requisite of Methods 3/4? The subject that Melbourne offers as an equivalent has a pre-requisite itself of Methods 1/2, is it possible to get this waived?

As a tertiary student, one of the easiest ways to meet the Methods 3/4 pre-requisite is to do an equivalent subject at university and pass that subject.

Will any maths subject be acceptable or is the "equivalent" part important? I did one but it didn't cover the same topics, though surely the fact it was taken at university should count for something?

Also when you say "most likely" the ATAR is more important, is this a trend you've noticed?

The only thing remotely relevant I can find on their site says that they will consider people with 4 CAP subjects with over 75% from each subject for enrolment. It doesn't say if this applies to outside studies or if they still consider ATAR though.

Well if you've completed VCE over 2 years and only did one semester of tertiary study it'd be a good guess that they take more consideration into your ATAR in this case. Not 100% but it seems that way.

Yeah this.

Yes, the equivalent part is still pretty important otherwise you wouldn't be satisfying the pre-requisites.  You said you did a maths subject and I would recommend asking if that subject plus any other maths subjects you have done throughout your academic career would count towards meeting that Methods pre-requisite.

The only thing remotely relevant I can find on their site says that they will consider people with 4 CAP subjects with over 75% from each subject for enrolment. It doesn't say if this applies to outside studies or if they still consider ATAR though.

The CAP is something completely different though.  CAP is where you have done subject(s) through the university and if it's assessed, it's assessed exactly how it's assessed for the semester you're enrolled in (ie. you go through the same assessment as normal enrolled award-studying students).
